'Full control over the keybinds'. http://services.runescape.com/m=news/nis-beta-customisable-keybinds-The keyboard is now yours to freely customise. Weve opened up almost all of the interfaces functionality for you to map to the keys you want. This means you can open your backpack with B, access your prayers with P or home teleport with a T - the choice is yours! Well keep the F keys (F1, F2, F3, etc) for our new management windows, and youll always be able to access options and log out via the Escape button, but everything else is yours to define. Platinum_Myr
I assume function keys being reserved is probably due to complications... They tend to be much less simple to control than other keys.. brunokiller
Who cares about function keys...just use ahk to make them do f1 alt-1, f2 alt-2... and bind that as inventory/worn items etc. And yes, making a single key do a modifier+number key is legal. mousepad
Who cares about function keys...just use ahk to make them do f1 alt-1, f2 alt-2... and bind that as inventory/worn items etc. And yes, making a single key do a modifier+number key is legal. Or do this: So I basically just created a thread over on help & advice to ask about this very topic. With the new UI coming with RS3, I am guessing that the use of gaming keyboards and mice are going to have a lot more relevance for runescape. I think PvM and PvP can be a more enjoyable affair with keybinds and mouses/keyboars like the razor stuff you and I have.
brunokiller
Yeah I'm probably going to make a guide on it when the NIS goes live. I've always bound the fkeys on my mouse for easy interface switching. I do not use the mouse for abilities, it's not worth the hassle and sore thumb when you can only use a dozen abilities anyways. My blog
Platinum_Myr
The mouse for abilities doesn't really work as well as you might like.. but definitely great for handling inventory and similar interface swapping. I think it will be quite nice on NIS. Maxed since Sunday, January 9th, 2014Completionist since Wednesday, June 4th, 2014
Wkw
Phh you armatures and your gaming keyboards and gaming mice.. I've been playing runescape with an XBOX 360 CONTROLLER since early 2007. You wouldn't know how it makes momentum unnecessary. Remap joystick and a few buttons to numbers, and spinny spinny afk combat. Hedgehog
That joystick thing should be illegal. But I don't think it is.
strilmus
if it's just a modified hotkey that requires manual activation there's really nothing wrong with it
Wkw
How is it different from putting a rubber membrane on your arrow keys and just pressing the general area, hitting four of the buttons at random? Still, it is 1 input = 1 action, and its been that way forever. Runescape player since 2005 Ego Sum Deus Quo Malum Caligo et Barathum
Blutters
I thought some optimization had been done, but it certainly doesn't feel like it. With all of the settings at max I get the same framerate as I did when beta first came out... Oh, but I crash now. So there's that. For that matter... Why does beta not look anywhere near as good as my current RS? Even with anti-aliasing "active" (not 4x, or 16x if forced) everything looks so jagged... -.-
Urza285
Well I can't even load beta any more so your one step above me. Blutters
It was that way for me a few weeks ago the last time I tried it. This time, settings for everything were reset (favorite worlds, graphic options, shortcut bar).I'm very excited for RS3 but the current beta just isn't inspiring much confidence :P

Blutters
Look at the post right above yours, where I said that the settings were reset when I got on beta today. It defaulted to off. I turned on each individual setting as I walked around Draynor/Sarim, enabling shadows last, which crashed it completely.Maybe you're not used to playing with full AA and can't tell how horrid the beta looks, but I am, and can. Pirkka
Yeah, I force additional AA to the normal game, and the beta looks awful with its own AA. 40,919th person to access Turmoil. 21,559th person to access Overloads. Blutters
Yeah, I force additional AA to the normal game, and the beta looks awful with its own AA.Yes, my point exactly. Perhaps the beta has some AA, but at the moment there is only one option and it pales in comparison to the actual game.Is there any way to force higher AA on beta? pulli23
Remember that things like AA are not in the hands of jagex. The actual rendering is completely done by your browser - and as such the browser decides what algorithms to throw at the anti aliasing requests. (Might even be not working). Also realise that the HTML5 3d (based on a new rendering machine "webGL" a weaker & much slower variant of openGL) are very much still a working draft, and that the exact details are not yet specified completely; so expect that certain parts are broken in one browser and working in another. Also webGL will never be capable of delivering really new things as the actual underlying hardware (graphic card) is simply not available from the sandbox; so no neat features your graphic card does have but an onboard chip lacks can be used. First they came to fishingand I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing Then they came to the yewsand I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews Then they came for the oresand I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak out for me. Pirkka
This is true for me, at least. Not for me, sorry to say. Some patch notes from yesterday! 24/06 - 14:10- Fix some camera issues with cutscenes- Add pre-fetching of assets on the loginscreen - if you wait for 10-15 mins on the loginscreen, it should download everything. We'll add some sort of progress indicator for this in a future update- Minor tweaks to graphics engine- Allow full-screen to be entered with F11- Move skybox rendering to end of frame- Add support for target indicator on NPCs in combat- Fix bug where players were not standing where they appeared to be- Fix offsets of hit marks- Fix resetting of camera position at the wrong times 40,919th person to access Turmoil. 21,559th person to access Overloads. Sy_Accursed
Thank jebus they decided to finally let us do pre-load! It should optimise the experience tenfold if we store the assets and don't have to play-load them all. Also display fps in lobby/login will show how much cache is on disk and preload % (for 27 seperate preloads) I'm on 40% 20/27 > 455Mb on disk atm.
