7-Jan-2014 - Player-Owned Ports - The Next Journey

Hmm, looks like wisps are only worth it for cb/sf and triples, which is a bit disappointing... rallying cry is mostly useless, as there's almost no chance that you'll have sub-level-10 crew by the end of the Loop anyway, and next region they'll have practically no stat advantage over basic crew. They're basically more specialized pre-nerf Oxheads...

Far more reasonable would be to keep Oxheads at 600 all (that way staying somewhat/theoretically valuable in the Loop) and giving Wisps a useful trait or group of traits, like Good Fortune + Opportunist + Rallying cry (all traits that are semi-useful but not worth keeping any kind of crew for). Simply giving Wisps +1% ship stats or the multi-talented trait or three random +100 traits would work as well.

Am I the only one who thinks that the 800 Speed on Wisp is actually quite useful? The new hulls all have terrible speed ratings (final Azure hull is 100), so the boost from the Wisp is welcome imo.

Don't mind me too much though, haven't done Ports for the last week and still floundering in the Pincers :P

That's from some jagex lackey. Apparently, 47 have reached the Loop, 3 have done all trio missions.

The Speed is on the wrong type of crew. Speed stat is the most useful when the crew in question is a SINGLE stat, not a double/triple stat. Reasoning (well, at least mine) being that when you go on a Duo or Trio, due to JoD's effect, chances are you will stick a JoD on the ship, whose Solidarity boosts speed by itself, hence raising the minimum speed that the ship would end up with under most circumstances, and thus it would require less speed to hit the speed cap, as well as having the overall time reduction being less effective due to a higher baseline speed.

Yeah, but what's the speed requirement to cap on Loop/Shield level voyages? Chances are Solidarity and the Rudder aren't going to push it all the way, especially with the slower hulls.

Just a small suggestion regarding the combat beta- it can be "abused" to mine data from ports. For example, if you have crew, voyage, captain or adventurer rerolls, you can just use them all in beta- get new information, and then reset to save game and repeat. You can also try sending out ships at 0% to see if it's at all possible to kill crew with lifeboats.

I just sent the hunter finale again at 95% with a merch and fots. If it comes back successful I will have 72 pearl and 26 koi scales. I also sent another 5 koi scale and it will be a total of 31 koi scale.

Edit: All on top of getting an adventurer reroll from a random. As soon as I get my architect and hunter back in I'm rerolling it for another voyage.

I have come to the conclusion that Upgrading Terracotta merchants first may actually be more beneficial than upgrading the Terracotta morale crew, because TM starts with 650 morale, and probably would end up as 1300 (so a 700 morale upgrade over JM), but a Morale crew is 1500 base, upgrade to 3000 (600 upgrade over Travelling band), add the fact that you do not get any stat downgrade for using a level 0 TM over a level 10 JM, unlike the other scenario...

Ok so chef and hunter finales all done. I have one more architect and her finale then I start the trio voyages. I'm beginning to think I'll have all three done before hitting the loop. I'm also curious when the finale voyages pop up. If we get 2/3 in the loop and 1 in the shield that might make quite a bit of a cliff hanger moment.

I'm sitting on 72 pearl and 28 koi scale. Part of me wants to make a tradable ring and test the economy.

After some fishing on the beta servers i've come up with some slightly useful nuggets of information:

Triple stat voyages are almost universally useless in the Loop. The only useful ones i was able to find were 12.8k ea for 6 bones and 10.4k ea for 275 'cotta with architect. There are no resource voyages with triple stat(only chimes).

The third tier of trade goods in the loop is 125 that you start getting at 10% trough the Loop. These are likely 90% missions(22.4k difficulty). Duo missions give 325 'cotta.

Although it seems strange and i guess some people have experienced this, you don't need to have all three adventurers from a trio "free" in order to get a trio mission, you just need to get 2 of the 3 to show up at the same time.

There are definitely no new captains in the Loop, although the rate at which you get 10k captains is very high.

There are no more special crew in the Loop other than Reef rider and Merchant. This means that if jagex'es math is right, there has to be 2 shield specific crewmen(in addition to special and 3 standard).

Uhh... Considering all those stats i think it's fair to say 7774 is best. That is considering there aren't any specialties as far as traits are concerned and speed isn't an issue. Might even keep a JoD and a shield trio specialty just for trio missions but that's about it. Those captains do look nice though.

If there really is no solidarity or merchant unit for the last region, that's very disappointing. You can *maybe* keep one Kharadian exile around for triples, but that's about it. JoD would be better for duos and trios than the golem or the exile.
