Doughnut
I recently read the new Game Informer article on the trip to the Korea WoW festival. And it saddens me that Korea is pro gaming, while in America you are put down and called a loser for playing video games. This almost makes me with I knew Cantonese and lived in Korea. almost ;) "A time comes when silence is betrayal" MLKJ Speak your mind, but be civil.Get mad, but do not rage.Do unto others as you would want done to yourself. Kill_Thomas9
There if you spend 8 hours a day on video games, you're cool. If I did that here, I wouldn't have any friends. I guess it promotes good health though. (Although it doesn't seem to be working :? )
Doughnut
But when koreans game they game with there friends. :-w "A time comes when silence is betrayal" MLKJ Speak your mind, but be civil.Get mad, but do not rage.Do unto others as you would want done to yourself. flying_death_bombs55
Gaming 24-7 is really bad for your health, its a good thing that we get called nerds/geeks/etc for it, we get discouraged and we try to do more sports, and become healthier in the process(government pyramid scheme ftw?) When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!" Ginger_Warrior
TBH it's a prolem with the Western World as a whole. I'm called sad for playing games, but you don't find me as a 35 year old queing up outside Waterstones for 50hrs prior to the release of a children's book, dressed up as a wizard. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

forsaken
I play games and no one calls me sad? I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. Gamerr
Americans call 8 hours gaming unhealthy? True that, but knowing that they are the biggest consumers of fast food in the world their attitude makes me laugh.
Kiriyama
Its pretty ironic that the highest carbon producer and fattest place in the world is calling 8 hours of srtaight gaming unhealthy. nine naked men
At least Americans arnt scared of fan death. Shut up about that! Fans got my brother... I knew getting the new model was a bad idea...  But, back on-topic, it would be cool to not be ridiculed at my school for playing Runescape. :? sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
Nadril
I do 8 hours of gaming a lot sometimes. (not straight though, breaks in between) . But yeah gaming is huge over there. They even show starcraft matches and the like on TV. I think all we need to do though is give it some time over here in the west.

Zonorhc
There is something wrong in the West when it stigmatises and sometimes demonises gaming, while in places like South Korea, hot chicks will swarm all over you for being good at Starcraft. llamster
That'd be North Korea, right? JK, North Korean people don't game at all  I think that the anti-gaming society here in the US promotes health. Too bad it isn't anti-McDonald's. Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:
darkmage099
They're probably more social gaming. You know how we get together with a bunch of neighbors and uncles to watch the (american) football games? They probably do that with starcraft, WoW, and such. Here in America our game is not social at all...This is just guessing. Trix.--quit WoW as of 12/07Thank you 4be2jue for the wonderful sig and avatar! ____
You telling me all you fools don't get a LAN going with mates? Damn. And here I was thinking such 'LAN parties' were comon practice :uhh: Personally, I do that kind of thing fairly often with my mates, awesome fun - and a good way to get new games / music / etc in the process :P

Don't ask me why you just are. Even the popular kids play RPGs though. They just keep it quiet. Trix.--quit WoW as of 12/07Thank you 4be2jue for the wonderful sig and avatar! Zonorhc
Because US youth culture sucks. It's true. It's what happens when you're not legally allowed to booze up at 18. Giordano
And in Korea if you don't play games, you're weird/loser/etc. There's no difference between Westernized countires' youth. There will be groups of people that would be considered weird no matter what. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
