Inuashakent
I don't know which pouches to buy then trade in for shards.. Can anyone help me with this? If you're making it, whichever high alchs for the least but costs a lot of shards to make. (Look at the ratio) If you're buying it from the GE, whichever has the least gp/shard ratio. Kill them in the Chaos tunnels with a combat familiar, although a Bunyip does work decently due to the Nech's high offense. And personally, I would not recommend anything but Waterfiends and Rock lobsters, but Nechs are decent for charms. Only go there if you hate Waterfiends, for whatever reason. LinkOlaran
Well Inuashakent, since you were nice enough to answer my post in Help & Advice, I figure I should post here as repayment (mind you, I've been meaning to do this for ages). Overall, this is one heck of a guide - it's easy to read, has tons of information about every aspect of training summoning (I'm re-reading it right now, actually), and has a massive numbers of pictures (which, unfortunately, takes forever to load since I'm on dialup, lol). The only complaint that I have about the formatting of the guide is that some of the titles of the different sections are in a bright red - which seems (to me anyway) a bit difficult to see. The pink font, on the other hand, sticks out really well. The guide is well spaced out, making it far easier to read than one massive clump of text that I occasionally see on these forums. Your grammar and spelling are near perfect, although there are a number of errors throughout the guide. I'd list them, but... well, the list is fairly long. I'll make up a list of spelling corrections if you want. The only major one I'll point out is in the section for killing dust devils: This doesn't display a picture on my computer, so I think you may have broken the code somehow, lol. Honestly though, the spelling errors don't detract from the guide at all - I'm sure a vast majority of readers don't notice them (I tend to pick up on even the smallest of spelling/grammar mistakes, unfortunately). Still though, one heck of a guide. A 10/10 for sure, even though I can't make use of most of it due to my cruddy levels. P.S. I'd also like to note that, before I read your guide, I was stuck taking the boat from Ardougne to Karamja, making pouches, and tele'ing back to Ardougne as my main method for training. Now though... I'll probably use the Kyatt method. Again, many thanks for creating such an awesome guide.
Inuashakent
Thanks. :D You'll be surprised about the grammar... I actually edited 500+ mistakes in one go, took over an hour :XD: but yeah, I missed some. Microsoft Word didn't find the mistakes because Word counts BB codes as a grammatical error... I'll consider the coloring, but they're all pretty hard to see... I was considering black, but it doesn't stand out enough. LinkOlaran
On my screen, the light blue, stands out the most, if you wanted to switch to that. As for the grammar/spelling mistakes: (I'll use a hide tag so I don't stretch out the page too much) [hide=]You can summon familiars with this skill, and it lasts for a certain amount of time before it "dissapears". "Dissapears" should be spelled with one 's' and two 'p' - "Disappears". Bogrog, located at Gu'tanath's summoning obelisk will buy your pouches for 70% of the shards used to make it. ALWAYS do this. To get there, go to Gu'tanath... "Gu'tanath" should be spelled with an 'o' in place of the second 'a' - "Gu'tanoth." If you have to use Guthans for your hp, your wasting too much time and should obtain a Bunyip faster. The "your" in this phrase should be a "you're". But... they lower your other stats and raise your defence. Very inconvinient, and it is extremely pricy. "Inconvinient" needs an 'e' in place of the first 'i' - "Inconvenient". You can take a bite of Pineapple pizzas, then eat a monk/shark/tuna potato for max healing speed. Use this for high damaging tasks, such as Scarabites. "Scarabites" should have the 'r' and 'b' switched - "Scabarites". Wine (12 life, -1 attack, 77gp) Same as the lobster, except it reduces range. As you can see though, it costs very little. This is a very good food to use when your ranging, and barely getting damaged. Which means safespots. Not so much a spelling error, but conflicting data - the first time you mention "ranged" should be "attack" instead - "except it reduces attack" 4th) Obsidian sword - This must be combined with a Berserker necklace. This is stronger than the Dragon scimitar, but you have to sacrifise a necklace slot. It isn't as good as the Saradomin sword however, so I wouldn't reccomend using this set-up considering it has no merits and lacks accuracy which lower levels need. Two spelling errors here - "sacrifise" should have a 'c' in place of the second 's' (sacrifice), and "reccomend" has an extra 'c' and needs a second 'm' (recommend). Dragon scimitar - This weapon is what us veterens used to use before the release of much more powerful weapons. "Veterens" needs an 'a' in place of the third 'e' - "Veterans". 2nd) Helm of Neitiznot - Reward from the Fremennik Isles quest, it gives as much Strength as a Berserker helm except it gives more prayer. Use this if your not on a slayer task. "Your" should be "You're". 2nd) Dharok, Torag, Guthan's (Karils) plate - Has the best defence in the game, and they're cheap. However, they degrade (barely adds up though) and lack the Strength bonus the Bandos plate has. Use this if you don't have it, it's doesn't make that much of a difference. Karil's is when you need magic defence, can be substitued for a Black dragonhide top (which has more melee defence) "Karils" should probably have an apostrophe (Karil's), and "substitued" is missing a 't' (substituted). 1st) Verac's skirt (Karils) - Wait? What? Not the Bandos tassets? Yes, the Verac's skirt has a very high Defence and Prayer bonus, and the repair isn't as much as people make it out to be. Use karils when you need Magic defence. However, every other barrows legs doesn't have Prayer bonus and has no better defence than Verac's, so don't use those. "Karils" needs an apostrophe (Karil's), the second mention of Karil needs to be capitalized and needs an apostrophe, as well. 2nd) Dragonfire shield (Anti-dragonfire shield) - Dubbed as the DFS. Well... when I said the Rune defender is better, I meant for powertraining. When trying to obtain the fastest experience possible, the 2 Strength or the huge defence is negligable compared to the 19+ to slash. However, when fighting high leveled monsters (Scarabites and obviously all variants of dragons)... "Scarabites" needs to be switched to "Scabarites". 4th) Unholy book - A completed Zamorak book. Good for ranging, but the prayer bons doesn't make up for the lost Slash and Strength bonuses. Don't use this for meleeing. "bons" should be "bonus". 5th) Dragon squre shield - Does anybody still use this? It has virtually no place in Runescape anymore, just ignore it's existance and you'll be fine. "squre" needs an 'a' - "square". 2nd) Warrior ring - 4 slash bonus and is very cheap. If you don't have a spare 2 million gp to spend, just buy this. The effects are defininate, and it's very cheap. "defininate" should be "definite". In fact, Ive gotten 50-92 Summoning mostly off Waterfiends/Slayer, but I havnt done even 1, lol. Yeah, I dont like them. But you can get rid of your rewards thanks to the Grand Exchange, so do them if you can. Make sure you do them fast, though. "havn't" is missing an 'e' - "haven't". Waterfiends are weak to crush attacks, and attack with range and mage. They are located in the Chaos Tunnels and the Ancient Cavern. They are the best Crimson charm dropper. They are extremely fast, and they doesnt cost a ludicrous amount of money, such as bursting Rock lobsters. In fact, you now make money here. Alot. "doesn't" should be "don't", and "alot" should be "a lot". Head: (Slayer mask is on slayer, of course)Helm of Nietiznot>Dwarvern helmet>Berzerker helmet>Karils coif Amulet:Fury>glory Top:Karils top>Black d hide top Bottom:Karils skirt>Black d hide chaps Weapon:Saradomin sword=Zamorikian spear>Godsword>Verac's flail=Barrelchest anchor>Torag's hammer "Nietiznot" should be "Neitiznot", "Karils" should be "Karil's", "Zamorikian" should be "Zamorakian".[/hide] These are all the ones I picked up on so far - I didn't go any further through the guide yet. I'd like to say that I'm not trying to be irritating with all of the corrections and all that. This just happens to be what I do, lol - correct each and every spelling/grammar mistake I see. My apologies if I've annoyed you in some way. Anyways, still an awesome guide. I'll continue with looking for errors if you want. Edit: Didn't notice the comment about using Microsoft Word. I hate using it too, lol. Seeing the red underline just irks me for some reason... hence why I tend to type things up in wordpad, and add in the coding for hide tags and the like later. hohto
Q) I'm a pure, but should I train summoning? A) No. This is simply because you can't use summons in bounty hunter. I disagree. Summoning gives a lot of advantages to pures: * Certain monsters can make training a lot easier. For a low def character the bunyip can be a godbless. BoB monsters help pures too during certain tasks, for example ranging dragons. * It boosts your non-pvp combat level. This means you can get 85 combat for smoking kills faster than without summoning AND it won't affect negatively to your pkin. Why smoking kills? Because slayer is one good way to train combat in my opinion and the points are a nice addition. At least I prefer using the slayer helmet (faster xp during certain tasks) and buying slayer darts with the leftovers. I personally believe that summoning is a nice addon for pures. Spending few mils on it can pay itself back in saved food or time and it does basically no harm to them. I'm personally now training my pure's summoning up to the point when I can use a bunyip and then take a small break until the char's bank and charm balance allow me to train more. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm

Inuashakent
Always plant Snapdragons! They make 1m+ per hour!. Always. Are you sure of that? :? This may be out of date... Yeah, it probably is. Here's the math. 6.5 herbs per hour with Toadflax, and the seed price is 1000 each and 500 per supercompost. 6.5 x 2450 = 15425 each seed. You can do a herb run in 5 runs, which consists of 5 herb patches, so 1 patch a minute. 15425 x 60 = 925k per hour. Obviously, the market for herb farming at the moment is HORRIBLE. Snapdragons are: 49,500 for compost and seed. 6.5 x 10.5k = 68,250 per seed profit, - 49,500. 18,750 per seed. Multiply this by 60 per hour, and you get 1,125,000. You can only obtain this much with very fast farming runs, but it's still possible. Obviously the Snapdragon market is weird right now with crazy prices, so I wouldn't recommend you paying 50k per Snapdragon seed... Still, the profit mentioned is still very possible. yuyu13
Always plant Snapdragons! They make 1m+ per hour!. Always. Are you sure of that? :? This may be out of date... I think that means in one hour of time put in (not including growing time), one can easily make over one mill profit. But, I still do think it is out of date. Point still holds: good money maker for the little time put in. edit~~ Kent, you ought to add in information about Bork. Very good for charms. 7 blue and crimsons, I believe. DarkX99
Hello Mr. Kent. I was just wondering if making Phoenix Pouches (from the In Pyre Need) was worth spending the Crimson Charms on. I have 73 Summoning and currently collecting Crimsons for 79. I was planning to go to 74 with Stranger Plants and Granites the rest of the way. Are the Phoenix Pouches better xp (if any) than Strangers? I read your little post in the beginning and it looked like the Phoenix is a weak familiar. -.- 99 WC - 12/20/08! =D99 Defence - 6/19/09! 44,012 to reach it! Aiming for 2000 Total Lvl! Inuashakent
Weak familiar or not, the xp is higher and the second comes at a reasonable cost. You should make Phoenix... but only if you finished the quest. Are the secondary ingredients buyable?
