She consistently said that she was not romantically attracted to me, nor anyone else really, but eventually (after 2 1/2 years of being close friends) she decided that maybe we should date because we liked each other (not attraction) so much and cared for each other. It's much more complicated than that, but basically, my girlfriend felt the same way you do, and now she's my girlfriend and we really care about each other, so yeah.
