Mainly because they all smoked. Most of my family was manily peer preasure suckers form what the stories tell me.

"Let your anger be as a monkey in a piñata... hiding amongst the candy... hoping the kids don't break through with the stick." - Master Tang

I forgot about mental illnesses.

anger issues run in my family, clinical depression, and a type of bi polar disease run in my family. and alcoholism if that counts as a mental illness. that's from the irish side though, so I don't know if it counts.

None that I'm aware of, but I'm not going to assume that I am completely perfect.

Not many for me (that I know of).

Pureprayer, you're awesome.

A bit of cancer, but I don't intend on living that long anyway. \'

[English translation needed]

I'm not really sure if it's a disease, but being colour-blind seems to run in my family.

That's why you're on the TZDF blackdawn. Even your balls can tear zombies to shreds.

The question with my family is not what disease's we have but rather what disease don't we have?

The main one's being mental illness, cervical cancer and diabetes. Everyone on my mum's side of the family has bipolar disorder so I'm quite lucky to skip it, although I was misdiagnosed with it for about 7 years. This was discovered when taken off mood stabilizers that I was a "normal" person again. I do have an anxiety disorder though and I do resort to flight or fight when under stress/perceived personal attacks. I don't need medication for it as it's not severe enough. There is also substance abuse that runs in our genetics (although the argument is did mental illness create the substance abuse problem) and even Schizophrenia in 2 known relatives.

We also have Autism running through a few of my cousins (although if you look at studies mothers with mental illness in particular mood disorders and depression are more likely to give birth to children with either autism or aspergers) but that's not to say that mother's with mental illness cause autism in children, studies just show that children born with autism/aspergers are twice as likely (although I did find one source that quotes up to 4 times as likely) to have a parent with the aforementioned disorders.

I'm currently under-going procedures and getting cells cut out of my cervix as I'm at medium-high risk for cervical cancer. I'm getting the rest of it cut out in 2 days time. There is a 20% chance that it will just grow back so if that happens I'll have to keep cutting it out so it can't progress to cancer. I can't have the cervical cancer antibiotics because the cells were already detected before it came out :(

And I also have type 2 diabetes at high risk for type 1 that has been traced back to when I was at least a teenager but went undetected until the birth of my son. There was literally no chance at escaping this one because it's been passed on in our genetics for centuries but my parents never took me to get tested for it. It makes a whole heap of sense now when I had black outs, fainting and extreme fatigue.

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.

Is Alzheimer's a genetical disorder?

For my family heart disease and diabetes. Th though from looking at some other peoples posts it looks like I got off fairly easy  .

Predisposed high cholesterol seemed to be one for my mother.

Also, depression is a big one.

None of this matters to me though, the only people in my family that I've seen die have died at 98, 89, and 90.

I'll bet you do love the white stuff.

Heart disease sort of runs in my dad's side, but I don't know if that's for reasons of genetics or big Midwestern salt-and-cholesterol filled diets. Also baldness and color-blindedness, but those seem to "skiP' generations and my dad has both. So I'm clean there at least for now, I suppose.

I seem to be going okay tho..

Diabetes runs in my family, though I believe that is all. I'm hoping I've skipped getting that, as most family members who had it were diagnosed at a young age.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

RIP Michaelangelopolous

Mental illness, judging that I have one totally insane aunt*, and one thats borderline insane*. And I only have two aunts.

Both of my biological grandmothers were slightly insane. And one of my biological grandfathers* was at least a little bit nutty.

My parents seem normal though. That may be hopeful thinking.

I think I'm normal too. I am, right?

Oh, and even though its not a disease, hernias obviously run in ym family.

My dad got one at the age of two, a great grandfather* got one, and I now have one.

Skin Cancer (mother) + Red-Hair (father) = 100% chance of that.

I think Addiction Tendencies are hereditary? (mother)

Bad teeth (my dad is British =P) (Braces fixed that)

All I can think of.

Colorblindness (Red-Green). As you all probably know, the colorblind gene is an x-linked chromosome. Females need both of their X chromosomes to have the colorblind gene in order to be affected, while males only need their 1 x chromosome to have it in order to be affected. My mom got one colorblind gene from her father so she was a carrier and was not affected, but she passed that gene on to me and so I was inflicted with the annoying disease (or disorder, or however colorblindness is classified. it's not serious of course, just very annoying). Neither my brother or sister have it so I was the unlucky one I guess.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can only get color-blindness from your mother if you are male.(it is on the X chromosome, and you by default get the Y from your father.) Funny thing is, male-patterned baldness works the same way.

I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete.
So, what is 1.111... equal to?

10/9.

Please don't continue.

I don't think so, I'm colour blind, so is my dad, brother and sister. Only my mum isn't..
