9th June 2009 - Run Energy Update / Patch Notes

Big monsters that normally are aggressive weren't and wouldn't attack back(Corp, GWD, KBD, etc). NPC's like gaurds who normally weren't were aggressive. Some GE offers set during the glitch period were all wiped and lent/returned items during the glitch period disappeared. Various banks weren't working, some poh's had walls close in on them, and alot of other minor things.

Oh, nothing too big then. I mean, its not like the most important monsters in runescape were rendered useless and insanely valueble items were taken from the economy right? I don't know how the hell QA missed all this. Such small updates come into the game today and all of a sudden major game-screwing side-bugs appear everywhere. Someone's gonna get fired.

When they fixed the bit of code that allows you to eat and run at the same time they didn't QA it because it was a simple fix. Big mistake on their part I guess they'll QA everything now :P

Hi all,

Paul has just posted the following;

"Been looking for evidence this bug really exists. Stayed an hour longer than normal at work so far.

Every single case I've looked into so far has ultimately claimed they got confused or were joking. "

As such, if you *genuinely* encounter a bug with Item Lending, please submit a bug report. If however you are just "trying it on" please do not waste our time.

Threads about losing lent items will be locked, if you need to let us know about it please use the appropriate methods.

Regards,

Mod Mark H

Well, thank god for that ::'

I was reading the rants and recent updates forum on RSOF, and saw that someone actually had a good point! Ever since Jagex got rid of BTS because "they don't want to feel like they are forced to meet a deadline.", almost EVERY update since has had a glitch. OT: It's funny to see how many people are in this part of the forums atm... and 50 GUESTS holy cow.

Lucky you, I'm just about to get my last stats to 70+ and now chinning is extremely frustrating. I moved onto red salamanders, whichs seem to be faster actually. Funny thing is that I didn't know they were such good exp. \' I do feel for the guys who are hunting red chins for cash though, it must suck pretty bad.

To recap: Being able to power-cut or power-mine ores is NOT a bug? If that's so, then it looks like I'll be getting 80 Mining today. :o If not, I'll get it around January 2013.

EDIT: Hey, found the answer to my own question. QFC 15-16-45-58950017, 5th page.

It's legitimate, and was done on purpose. However opinions are divided as to whether or not we should keep it, since it can be a bit annoying in combat.

Further changes may be made in future, but it's not a bug. Just a debatable feature.

So i've just read through all 17 pages of this thread, as i was at work when the main bugs appeared.

Firstly, i don't see how Jagex's QA guys missed the running and eating bug, do they not try everyday tasks when testing future updates or something?

Secondly, you can't blame jagex for the second string of bugs after the rushed fix for the first, with a game like Runescape that has masses of code, something will usually happen when you change something else, however, i am usually a big supporter of Jagex, but i'm personally appauled at their handling of the situation. There would have been minimal, if any conseququences of taking the game offline for a few mins and getting a new fix up, or doing a rollback, as from whats been said, very little regular tasks could be done as usual.

It seems to me that Jagex are currently scared of taking the game offline shortly, or doing any kind of rollback, they really need to learn to do these kinds of things to gain a bit of respect.

To be honest, I think the non aggro glitch has been there for a while, but today's quick bug fix made it come out of the codework. At least at Tzhaar a few days ago, I noticed that they would sit there for a few attack rounds and not attack me back, randomly. It did not always happen, but it appears the broken code was there. Could just be my imagination, or lag, but I don't think so. To the people wondering how a running fix could affect other code, remember that running is used with almost everything else you do, including mini games and monster fights. One piece of code that interacts with a ton of other code can do a lot of damage, as seen by all these glitches.

OT: The update is win, with run/hp recharge. Did notice though, the hp recharge seems to not work with regen brace, I only got 1 hp at a time, even though it was faster. Unless, of course, the hp regen from resting is not connected to normal hp regen, then that would make sense. Other than that, this update is awesome =D>

Normally, with a major bug, rollbacks are typically reserved for the most severe of them, as I only recall one ever happening. Today I think that would have warranted a rollback.

- No one would have been adversely affected within 37-90 minutes of the update - Fight Cavers that noticed a whole bunch of nonsense going on would have been smart enough to stay the hell away from the game

- The only people that would have been affected were those that abused the bugs (a-la free Sigils, Fire capes (illegit), and KQ/KBD/GWD/TDers)

- The bug did not cause widespread damage, and not everyone lost things; however, anytime something enters the economy in an easier fashion, it suffers.

It's a fine line they walk, really. In the clutch I would have actually optioned against the rollback, probably because not everyone was affected directly by a loss of data. Even though Jagex may not ban anyone, I sure hope the ones that abused the bugs intentionally get a swift kick in the [wagon].

On the bright side, people are flocking to TIF now to see pictures and opiniopns of the glitches,

11.png

Well most people steer clear of the RSOF as it's full of kids and liars. I mean why lie about losing a lent item? Those idiots should be banned for wasting Jagex's time when there were proper bugs to fix.

As for the guy who will commit suicide if he doesn't get his fake AGS back from a fake bug, world is probably better off without him anyway.

Anyway I'm staying off Runescape tonight. Hopefully tomorrow all these bugs will be sorted and at least I'm not going to have the worry of a system update.
