February 10, 201016 yr I completely echo Zotto's post......well except that I don't have 99 slayer and have had the quest cape for ages, so my stats/slayer options are reversed. I've done 11 attempts at Jad. I get to Jad each time, but like Zotto, I stink at prayer switching. I make one mistake, wobble about like a muppet and the second mistake kills me! lol Oh well, I'll get it eventually. All skills 70+ again 16/06/2010
February 10, 201016 yr The firecape requirement dousnt bother me at all, im sure I could own Jad if I wanted to. There is just one thing that bothers me, why do I need a firecape to kill a giant ice worm? The only thing that relates them is fire versus ice, but some flamey cloth on your back really can't help you killing some giant ice worm, dous it? A fire weapon/shield/ring/gloves/piece of jewelry that is imbedded with the "forces" of fire or something like that, might help you, because its logical or else magic is always an easy way to get unlogical things logic. But a cape sits/hangs on your back, it dousnt helps in damaging a foe, it doust help protect against it because you mainly face you foe, so your back dousnt. Nor dous a cape enchant you or something, thats what magic jewellery is for. They could have picked so many other logical solution, this just bugs me.

But then you would think that you could still attack it, just be owned =) "There are only two strategies in war. Move forward or change. Your not looking at the bigger picture, you are looking it in the sake of combat. What if the heat of the fire cape is what is necessary to attract the attention of the strykewyrm in the first place so that you can combat it? :)
February 10, 201016 yr The message that appears when you try to attack an ice wyrm without fire cape equipped says something like 'the wyrm freezes your hands and renders your attack useless', so basically you need the cape to stay warm enough to properly fight it.

February 10, 201016 yr I want my old music player back. The one where you had a button to loop, a button to keep from switching to local tunes... I don't even remember the thrid anymore. But now we don't even have the loop button. I want my functionality back.

February 10, 201016 yr To anyone complaining about the fire cape requirement here is my opinion. To get a rare drop in runescape that is worth in the millions like a SoL is, there needs to be a challenge. Whips were part of what i would like to call 'the old reward system' where you could get good weapons/gear from getting a required level or doing quests. In RS today thats simply irrelevent, all the good items are rare drops from difficult monsters. The SoL is a rare drop from an easy (its no nomad no matter who you are) monster. Fire cape is what justifies the risk versus reward in my opinion. Not everyone can kill jad just like not everyone can solo Sara or Armandyl boss, you shouldnt be able to get such a staff if you arent good enough at combat to do so. Sorry if your age limits your reflexes, or your internet is slow. Even at my low combat level i find such fights to be trivial (granted i cant WIN because i cant dish out enough damage due to gear/stats) but the methods behind it are laughable. Stop making excuses, you call yourself the good Rs'ers the ones who support most updates, loled when merchents lost their mint cakes (and millions), and begged for elite content. You got what you asked for, now QQ harder because no ones listening to you I agree completely, people should stop complaining and just accept the fact that it requires a fire cape.
February 10, 201016 yr I hope to have received a Tzhaar task by the time I get 93 Slayer =D. My focus range is ripping certain tasks to shreds. Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.
February 11, 201016 yr I'd just like to mention that I just got my second fire cape. Kur gave me tzhaar so I decided to own jad again to prove a point. Seriously, he's EASY. Didn't even have to sip a prayer potion on jad. In other news, I am still woefully without a focus sight and hexcrest. Hey Kur, assign me some more desert wyrms, willya?

You got what you asked for, now QQ harder because no ones listening to you Well said. I've been posting in the recent updates section of the RSOF furiously in an attempt to show Jagex that there players who like the way strykewyrms were implemented. From the time I've spent there the past day, I'd guesstimate that the players being vocal about not wanting the fire cape to be a requirement outweigh the players who want it to stay the way it is. However, it seems as though nearly everyone who doesn't like the fire cape requirement is either A) not even close to 93 slayer, B ) apparently seventy years old, deaf, and unable to move their right arms (seriously, I've seen all three), or C) lacking a decent internet connection. A and C are easily worked around. If you have B, you might be out of luck. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
February 11, 201016 yr A and C are easily worked around. If you have B, you might be out of luck. While I agree there should be a fire cape requirement, Option C in some cases cannot be easily worked around. In my area I couldn't get broadband for 3 years, and only now I still can't get ADSL or cable, just wireless. :D
February 11, 201016 yr Today I got my 400th task, and it was Tzhaar. So I switched to try and do a "jad" task, thinking get 270 points+a fire cape for the first time would be pretty hot. Having got to Jad twice before, and died, I was nervous. Once I was fighting jad, I was good. Until I noticed that even though I had all the healers lured, he was still healing. So eventually, as I couldn't kill him, he killed me. Next time I am going to use D claws+turmoil+x pots and just kick his arse really quick. Hell, I would fight a jad who ALWAYS 1 hit you if you messed up, and had 2-3x the HP, if he didn't take an hour to get to. Fight caves are so boring to get to jad, that having to practice on him until he stops glitching is really a PITA. As for requiring a fire cape to kill wyrms, it doesn't make sense, but it will have the benefit of having few people able to kill ISW, and so higher prices for when I do get fire cape and 93 slayer. February 11, 201016 yr B ) apparently seventy years old, deaf, and unable to move their right arms (seriously, I've seen all three) Oh man, some of the rants on the RSOF are just ridiculous.Take a look at this one... 15-16-642-60361660 ...seriously?
February 11, 201016 yr I'm rather neutral in any case to the whole Fire Cape debate, since it's more than likely I will never get 93 Slayer. However, if a cape of fire, a fiery item, passes, why not a Mystic Fire, Steam, or Lava Staff? Is there some given reason as to why only a Fire Cape can be used?

Unfinished netherrack symbol of Khorne. Never forget. ~creeper face w/single tear~ DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?!?!

Well he does bring up a good point. The message says the wyrms freeze your hands, right? Why can't you just wear the fire gloves from beacon lighting? That would make a lot more sense in this case :P
