Nope, I honestly don't care what level it is...I just want it because it'll be better. Kimberly
This is either going to be the best month or the worst month of this year. I can see the defense updates failing miserably. I really hope they don't screw it up.Well, they did say they listened to players opinions about the hitsplat thing so the chances of that one failing went from 50% to 49%. Regardless, the defence update has been needed for a while and it's nice to see Jagex is doing something about the state of rushing PKing. I'm a little curious. Those old devblogs were so long ago, but from what I do remember, it seems like what they've described for these new hitsplats is exactly the same as before. What am I missing here? Nifflin
Do you think damage reduction will be based on equipment or defense level or both? Maybe this will make barrows even better tanking gear then bandos, it has a higher defense requirement after all. PM me in game anytime It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet. That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying. Will H
Fine, Jagex, you win. I'll come back for this month. It's not a guarantee, not a promise, just a single subscription. Don't disappoint me. ~ W ~
Den
Excited about this month. Sound pretty good. Lets hope the soaking update isn't a flop though. I can live with the whole over 200 stuff, but the % of soaking could be a problem if it's too low/high. Christmas at Daemonheim sounds cool too. |^_^| ........::::: Rainy's YouTube Channel - Rainy's Twitter - Rainy's Facebook - Rainy's DeviantArt - Rainy's Tumblr - Rainy's Tip.It Profile :::::......... The BTS sort of implies that it will affect armor tiers but not how, but since they're mentioning the level of differences between f2p and p2p soaking, I would guess that it's based off of the additions to your equipment. Some people are tying this into the speculated smithing rework, so it makes the theory (somewhat) plausible.

DUELMASTER30
Yeah I'm going to try playing some more again, just to prepare for this. I'm not guaranteeing that I'll play for more than a month, but we'll see because I've been waiting years for a Dragon Defender. Jehosaphat
This is either going to be the best month or the worst month of this year. I can see the defense updates failing miserably. I really hope they don't screw it up.Eh, what's the worst that can happen, right? :geek:Someone said it. It's jinxed now. To answer the question.... they release it, it's mildly useful but doesn't change anything, and it causes a series of catastrophic bugs that last for a few hours before jagex "patches" them. So, think the Resting update, but with the bugs a bit more varied, and getting a tiny amount of damage soak.
xSxqPowerx
I feel like this update will be only a negligible change for most people. Yes, slightly harder to KO with big hits. Slow weapons will be a bit worse off. Rushing will be less likely. If it applies for PvM then we will get a few more kills per trip or whatever. But of course, it all depends on how it is implemented. Still rather worried that it will be implemented in typical fashion - in a way that makes absolutely no sense to anyone. I feel like we're going to log in to find that they've changed the way armour works and have removed all defense bonuses on all armour in exchange for damage reduction or something, or there will be stupidly high reductions and no one will be able to kill anyone anymore. Hedgehog
Tier 9 defender stats (With T1 being bronze,T2 iron,...,T7 Rune. and T8 either a blank spot (in theory, granite) or dragon, T9 either dragon or barrows (depending on where dragon is placed): +44.536 Stab +43.536 Slash +42.536 Crush -3 Mage -2 Range +7.625 Strength This would be roughly equivalent to a rune kite and rune scim in the shield slot, as far as defense and accuracy go. So unless Jagex decides to unbalance the game even more, don't expect a T9 defender for a long time. Also, if anyone's curious, here are the formulas I used in my calculations. Not balancing, just enforcing. This will revolutionize F2P warring. Previously, the ranged unit was a clan's main KO power in PKRIs, since mages are expected to be primarily focusing on binding over blasting and rangers can attack faster too. But with rune inevitably having some degree of damage soaking, this will make it where rangers can't really do much against people in rune.
