In case anyone's wondering whether magic works - it doesn't. I did a whole kill having +111 magic bonus using the ice barrage, and hit only once this whole time. Additionally, you can't use magic on her 5th stage.

There's a higher chance to hit 500 with ruby bolt spec then with the diamond bolt spec.

There's always a chance for the diamond bolt to be a failed spec and not hit very high. Ruby bolt is a guaranteed 500 (unless Nex is at very low hp.)

Without the specs I think diamond bolt has like 2 more ranged strength compared to ruby. Which means like 6 more damage.

And I'm not sure but from what I've always thought.

Higher gem = less chance for special effect.

During her last Soul Split phase, Blood forfeit is capped to 300. She can frequently have over 1/4 of her health left if you start off poorly on this phase, too. That's the only phase that you want to use Diamond (e) on rather than Ruby (e).

I don't think there is a major difference between ruby and diamond bolts- on the one hand, diamond hits ~2% higher, and the spec seems to work more frequently, on the other hand, ruby bolts spec hits harder, but drains lp and is rarer. It's certainly a matter of prefrance, rather than efficiency with how evenly matched they are, and considering you'd want to carry two types of bolts with ruby(for the cap at low lp), i'd rather go with diamond- more consistent damage.

Well, if you don't wear Void, Ruby is the way to go for sure. I've tried diamond a few times, it doesn't even get close to the damage output on the first four forms (although arguably, at least one is better done with melee). I usually use Ruby, and for the final portion I melee whenever possible. That's been working out well for me so far, but I think if you're using Void, you can easily do the same thing with Diamond.

Video I saw.

Kind of an early on Commander Zilyana method.

Now this is what I call efficiency!

I call it bug abuse

I wouldn't really call it bug abuse, just an oversight on Jagex's part

It's no different then walking under Bandos along a wall when you need to heal.

Jagex will fix it though, making the area wider so nex can move around more to attack.

A few guides and YouTube videos are saying her Soulsplit form doesn't heal her at all if everyone is on normal prayers. I call shenanigans but has anyone heard anything about that?

According to Stokenut, who has pretty much non-stop killed Nex since the release, that is true. He also rages about people who waste time killing Reavers. Here's something he wrote:

I put it in spoilers because it contains very bad language.

The 3 things not to do at Nex

1. During Phase 2 (shadow)

Stick to one half of the map. Lure her if she's tanking you when the minion activates.

2. During phase 3 (blood)

Don't run around

Ignore reavers

Use boost prayers, deal as much damage as possible

3. During phase 5 (soul split)

Don't move, even if she tanks you, that includes rangers. Turn all curses off to stop soul split

Ranging is not an excuse to stand on the other side of the room. If she wants to tank you, she'll jump which means everybody else has to run over there.

More complains go here

Love,

Stokenut

Wow does anyone listen to him? - After reading the first sentence he lost all credibility to me.

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Wow, people seriously ignore obviously good advice just because it has a swear word?

No wonder 90% of runescape's population sucks at everything.

Stoke is also one of the co-creators of DG Elites and is a high-ranking official in the #1 F2P pk clan RSD. Potty mouth or not, the guy is good at RS so you shouldn't judge his credibility based on that. People are so accustomed to the censor ******** ing everything, I guess it's a shock to actually see it lol.

I cleaned up that quote but I didn't bother copying it all - be sure not to post something like that again. You're welcome to change what I edited of course (without bleeps).

Language or not, he has a lot of credibility boss wise, I would take what he says as accurate if not entirely true.

This.

So what, somebody who can't speak from a neutral standpoint has never any right of speaking.. He can't see the two sides of a coin, and always thinks he's best, with zealous ambition..

Really maybe you "believe" in him (like you believe in a religion) - but that doesn't give him any right to speak (just like religion is in no position to speak).

is it just me or does your standpoint not seem very neutral either.

What?

He cusses, so ****ing what? I cuss to, so do many, many other people. It's bloody frustrating when nobody listens or thinks, which is par for the course with the general RS populous. What Stoke said was as much of a rant as a guide.

Oh, woe is me for not thinking that an experienced monster hunter, who has killed nex several times before is lieing for no apparent reason!

I don't see where all that misdirected anger is coming from. Did daddy not love you enough?
