17-Aug-2011 - Temple Trekking: Revamped

Yes, I agree on the fog thing. I don't like the green haze that is everywhere in Morytania. Seems to fuzz out everything.

As for the temple trekking: I really like it, except for the new nature spirit event. I got it in 80% of all treks (I usually do medium path) and well.... I'm not much of a fire fighting afficionado... ah well.

Otherwise a GREAT revamp. I like the new modelling, interface/intersection, the levelling up of people etc.

Something interesting: After you get Jayene Kliyn to 99, if you keep clicking on the druid pouch option, you can get as many as you want:

Goes for all items reward, as replacements. ;)

I see.

I have a quick question. Is there an event while Temple Trekking that gives the construction boots and gloves as a drop? (the hat, legs, and body are obtained by getting your people to a high enough level to add up to the required number right?)

99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving.

Really liking this update, didn't care much for Temple Trecking before but it's quite a lot of fun now and the rewards are awesome too.

You have to get Zachory Bragg to level 25 for the boots and Pazuzu to level 85 for the gloves.

So, I think this update was pretty nice, and it was good to see an old minigame that I enjoy revamped. The graphics are decent, and the new reward system is good for those who want something specific out of their trekking.

That said, I'm not entirely partial to the leveling-of-the-escortees aspect of it. I'm not entirely sure why, but I just don't like that part.

Also, I miss the old graphical glitch with snakes where sometimes, you could kill them and instead of making a corpse, the sprite would flip out, go rigid, and then occasionally float off the screen. Oh well.

Do you have to do Darkness of Hallowvale to be able to use those two? If so.... I hate quests and I've looked at the guide for that quest, it looks annoying.

Nope you should be able to use all the villagers/adventurers. Both Zachory (med) and Pazuzu (easy) are the adventurers you can escort to Burgh de Rott.

Why is it that people suddenly love this minigame? Yet non did it before?

Not THAT much has changed - the minigame is still in essence the same as previously - and only levelling (+ rewards from levelling) are added.

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

There are a lot of different things changed.

Few new fun treks, you can chose the reward from the tokens, new reward items, the whole npc system was reworked which is now GREAT!

Fair few events have had slight tweaks made as well that make them less painful/repetitive.

Eg shades event the 3 npcs from Mort'ton now appear in houses and if you distract the shades attacking their doors you save them and they will offer prayer and hp restoration.

Or you let the shades break in and turn the shopkeepers into 3 more shades.

The whole experience is just more sleek and dynamic and less of a chore plus the rewards are nice in many ways.

The shortcuts pwn.

Construction outfit = win

Ghast familar = uni for prayer + prayer xp from it fighting

Infinite druid pouch = win

Burgh De Rott Ramble/Temple Trekking was probably one of the most loved minigames before the update--but no one played it because there was no reason to past obtaining full lumberjack. Now the people who loved the game before actually have a reason to play, and thus are extremely vocal about their pleasure. And people who just didn't play it before have strolled on the scene to start something that doesn't suck.

The only thing that's the same is some instances and the concept. So quite the opposite really--not THAT much has stayed the same. It's basically like a brand new minigame.

This and to add that there were horrible graphics (which caused at least me not to do it (yet)).

I;m at the lumberjack event, but I don't have a hammer. How can I complete it then?

EDIT: Nvm I needed to wield to axe.

I just use the Dwarven Mutli-Axe for it. Pretty much covers all the events except the vine rope, which you find a knife there 100% anyway.

You'd like to take a knife for snake events as well....

Don't know what snake skins are worth now, but I got some 20 odd off them in a few treks.

I like how I can feed the sick people event guys with some excess tune I have.

Can someone elaborate about the inventory of the escorted people? I stufffed them with tuna the first time I began a trek (either way) but now they don't have any more space, but I'm quite sure they ate some of the food.

If they have no space they didn't eat.

The inventory is universal for all 6 peoples and if they get Very low health they eat. When they eat they re-gain inventory spaces; mine have ~10 atm
