Down to almost zero chimes, still 30k steel left. Recruited about 20-30 pincers crew since max crew (plus several captains) but so far only one tiger came with a good trait (Slayer) and one Harem with multi-talented. Übercrew is hard to get :(.

The sum of the 4 numbers, 4+3+2+1 for a total of 10, just like the bonus on the icons.

So prioritze rudder -> crew -> 4th ship unlock(?) -> rest of my ships upgrades(?)

I thought it was rudders -> 4th ship -> crew -> ship upgrades.

Unless you already got all ships then skip that stage.

Err for pincers you really need to slowly replace your bowl crews, as if you jump straight to pincers crew you get stuck with low level, low statted pincers crew; i would get 4th ship, rudder, then get 2 of each pincers then work on upgrades/more crew/Oxheads

As soon as you get rudder you should upgrade all the crew you get asap. Else you will get to mid voyages having noob crew and few low lvl pincer crew.

There seems to be some confusion, I just entered the bowl, not the pincers. So rudder, 4th ship, crew, ship upgrades?

crew is the only update you can't get as soon as you have the resources, so you should at least get rarer crew like JoD as you roll them. Chimes, not jade should be the limiting factor for the crew you can get, so you should be able to go for both them and 4th ship at the same time.

25 more scrolls to finish ports as well as 36 lacquer.

 

So my lacquer voyage didn't come back successful, but did get and send out a 5 plate and 2 chi voyage. I might be selling a tetsu helm soon...

Maybe someone else can chime in as to what is considered most efficient. I did single-stat crew > 4th ship > rudder > hull of glory > JoDs > deck upgrades > Jade merchants. I debated getting the rudder first, but the speed improvement is only 200.

If you've got a fair number of 10k captains already the speed cap shouldn't be an issue, but if it is you'd want to get the rudder.

 

I did rudder -> hull -> one of each crew -> 4th ship, but last I read if you wanted to speed through you'd do rudder -> ship

Once you get ship, the voyages tend to drop off slightly in difficulty, at least they did for me. (not for super long, but long enough to get crew)
