I feel bad for those people who just bought chins and found out there's no more chinning spot in Ape Atoll. But hey, the mummies are still a good alternative - money for prayer pots and charms is never a bad thing.

And just yesterday I found a wonderful spot for them, but now that spot was nerfed too... :(

100 Chinchompas would've net you 300-500 Nature Runes at Tree Spirits yesterday, and a rune axe or two. Now they drop 1/10 the nature runes, and loads more knives. #-o

Both..

Bad because I loved Chinning because it was so fast so it was really usefull but I think it's also good because prices will crash now and I can chin cheaper @ mummys \'

I haven't chinned in ages so I really don't care.

I was going to get 91 Runecrafting and buy enough chins for 99 Range.

The update is a bit annoying, but I think there are also some positives; Instead I'm going to train Range with Slayer, which would be more beneficial in the end. Maybe spending the money instead on better equipment.

Plus I want to get 80 Hunter and it should become less crowded at the training spot.

The red chins hopefully wont go down to much, there already bad enough compared to pre exchange prices. The grey which were actualy better money makers because of the high exchange price probably wont survive this though. Ah well, all good things must come to an end, some before there time.

all the people that bash pc-products should be happy. chinning is a "cheap" way to get 99 in a skill and it doesnt require real "skill" like other methods of training. <.<

'Cept there was a tad higher risk at chins.

Nonetheless, quite glad to see this method gone. I always preffered normal methods.

rune knives and dragon darts were only like 300ea last time I checked... they're still 100k XP/hour

use at aviansies and you make a profit

the nerf does seem unnecessary though... when I got 99 range on muggi, it deserved a nerf since:

-chins cost 225ea

-they hit unlimited targets

-they did around 25 damage w/o any prayers

-I was getting up to 1k XP per chin at times

when I used chins on karma...

-chins cost 800ea

-they hit 9 targets

-they did around 20 damage max with 98 range and eagle eye

-I was getting up to 300-400 XP per chin max

it seems unfair since it costs a good 70M or so to get 99 range with chins. hunter's gonna become a lot less popular :|

all the other spots are pretty inefficient like the mummies since I always thought they were pretty tricky to lure into place so you could be hitting 9 at a time and not wasting your chins

Pc requires no skill, risk, effort,Or money most importantly.

I got 90-99 range with chins, it didn't take long if you look at the Range part only. But i barrowed that 30m i needed. That took so long, and yes i count that time that i spent making the money for it.

On topic. oh well. Glad it doesn't effect me since i got 99 long ago but it did give me an excuse not to train hunter which i'm glad about.

Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color]

You can't just count how long it took to get 99 range with chins. You also have to consider the huge amounts of money that it took to buy the chins. The 44m or so from 85-99 range takes a long time to get and with trade restrictions now on, you have to get that money yourself. And it's unlikey you'll get a lucky monster drop, especially if you're low lvl.

The cost balanced the speed. I am biased since I had bought 25k chins though. But I do truly believe that.

They killed hunter, only use is dragon imps, no point now. . . .

And, they "balanced" that skill, and look at what happened, 1 skill is pointless to train and they also changed magic. Alc'ing is the cheapest and easiest method to train it, and now it became even faster.

hm.

kill hunter in exchange for making range a bit slower? nice decision, oh wait......

mummies pale in comparison to the tunnel skeletons, but its still some fast exp(compared to normal ranging)

i wont be surprised when red chinchompas fall below greys, as greys are used for summoning....

ah well, i can still hunt em for xp, then use em myself.

but..... was it worth it?

Why did they wait so long to nerf it? This is very similar to PC. They removed them becasue it would be "unbalanced" to keep them, yet they left it there for several months enough to create plenty of pc products/chin products. I think a lot of people would have took the chance to use PC and chins if they had known it would be there for a limited time. Jagex is like giving a pat on the back to all those who use those methods "Good job, now all the other idiots can't use the method that you had the cleverness to exploit...". Paradox ftl.

As inclined as I am, going for 99 hunter, to say this is a bad update,I'm in favor of it.

Even though it means a lot less money from 99 hunter, it comes with some plusses:

Rangers don't have a way to get hyper-speed xp. Now they'll have to level around the same pace as melee users.

Hunter spots will be less crowded, with almost no one hunting for money/chins to use themselves.

Exactly. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy. They think it makes the game unbalanced, so they change it - making 99 Hunters and 99 Rangers (who used red chins) happy and leaving the rest of the players in the dust. The update of nerfing the monkeys is what made things unbalanced because there are now two groups of people: those who had the opportunity and now those who don't. If they wouldn't change anything, everyone would have the same opportunity. How is that not fair?

I'm speaking as a level 99 Hunter who was going to go for 99 Ranged at Dragons. This update doesn't effect me at all, but the reasoning Jagex used is just wacky. It's not a problem that they made this update. It's a problem that they were months and months too late.
