Does Rowling's success automatically makes ALL unpublished authors good? No, Rowling was an exception, obviously. What kind of logic is that? July 26, 200817 yr Lol no i am just saying give it a chance. Don't assume its a pile of rubbish because it's an RS book and made by an author debuting his publishing career. I see your point but no need to lash out :/ Sn'C Events Team Member942nd to 99 hunter 2/8/07|26,042nd to reach 99 fletching 27/10/07|Quest Cape Achieved 22/1/08|50,000th to 99 Cooking 29/10/08Dagannoth King Drops: 7 Zerkers 2 Axes 3 Warriors | Armadyl: 1 hilt first ever trip and kill | Barrows: 2 Dharok Legs 1 Ahrim Skirt 1 Torag Helm 1 Guthan Spear
July 27, 200817 yr Highlanders I find your attitude poor - lots of people on this board are interested in seeing if the book is any good before buying it, and some people have been good enough to splash out and buy the book early to report back to everyone else what the book is like. I don't think it's appropriate for you to be badmouthing, because they chose to spend their money a little different to the way you would. (so far all signs point to it being a good book - every person I've seen who's actually bought it - is talking positively about it - which is even more promising when you take into account Runescape players reputations for complaining about things)
July 27, 200817 yr I got the book the 22nd and just finished it today, its a great read and well worth the money its helped me get through a few shifts at work I have been hooked on the book since the day it arrived (Same day as my 1-6 Smallville box set that I have yet to watch  ) - Twitter | RuneScape FB Group | My PC
July 27, 200817 yr THE SECRET BEHIND T.S. CHURCH!!! IMPORTANT NOTE: IF YOU HAVE THIS BOOK DO NOT READ IT. YOU WILL SEE WHY IN DUE TIME. DO NOT READ THIS BOOK, I REPEAT. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS We've never heard of this guy, yet a Runescape book is written by him? Isn't it odd that a book on such a seldom advertised game is released by a person, possibly a member of Jagex staff, was released so suddenly? He's no member of Jagex staff. You see, through my research I have uncovered startling evidence that reveals the true identity of Mr. T. S. Church. It is well-known that authors will sometimes use a pen name or an alias and have this name displayed as the author of the book. Church, however, was using this to conceal who (or what) he really was. I didn't discover this until later, though. I interviewed Andrew Gower about the book, asking only meaningless questions about the contents and how it tied in with the game, then I popped the REAL question I had been waiting to ask him: "Exactly WHO IS Mr. Church?" He looked startled by the question. I suppose he didn't think anyone would care about who wrote a book on Runescape of all things. He fidgeted around and refused to answer the question. He only told me that no one from Jagex staff has no personal contact with Church and only spoke to him on the phone about the progress of the book. The book was delivered directly to Gower in the mail, and Church's payment was sent to the return address. Suspicious, no? What could Church be hiding from Jagex? What could possibly be so wrong with his identity that he refused to show his face to Andrew? I was not allowed to obtain the return address, so I have no idea where he resides. Only a handful of Jagex employees know the location. I began to investigate, searching the internet and checking census offices for a T. S. Church. The census has nothing on him, and these are the only two things I could find out: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/T._S._Church There's no information about him. No biography, picture, or anything. Shady, huh? http://atvb.ahajournals.org/cgi/content ... 22/11/1869 This is a selection I picked out of a few similar pages relating to the same thing. Why would he be interested in contributing to an article about cardiorespiratory fitness? Also notice that this is completely unrelated to Runescape, so we can assume Mr. Church didn't have much purpose to write the book on what I assumed was personal interest at the time. It was around this time that I realized the lack of information on his name could only mean one thing: T.S. Church was a pen name. Why T. S. Church? Perhaps he was a religious man? So religious that he couldn't show his face in public? Jesus, maybe? I marked that down as a possibility. There was one thing I could try: anagrams. What if he made an anagram of his real name for his alias? I got to work, manually scrambling the letters up in every possible combination on several sheets of paper. Searching through them, I saw two things that made sense: CC Thrush Thrush CC CC Thrush sounds like another name. Perhaps his real name? I went through the same routine for this name that I went through for T. S. Church and got absolutely nothing. Thrush CC didn't sound like a name at all. I pondered the meaning of these phrases for hours. I came to the conclusion that these were not names. Maybe...maybe something else? It was time to investigate. I looked up the thrush on Wikipedia and searched through every genus. One of them made me gasp with realization: Genus Cochoa. For those of you that don't see the ties, look at this: Thrush Cochoa I looked at the information on them and it turns out they were recently taken out of the thrush family. It all made sense. The reason why no one has heard of T. S. Church and no one has seen his face is because he is a bird. T. S. Church is a ****ing bird. A thrush, to be precise. At least he was. To confirm this, I went back to interview Andrew Gower a second time and merely asked him what Church wanted as payment. What would a bird need with money, after all? Jagex paid him in bird seed and Church requested they not question why. It was obvious now. The reason Church wrote this book is because he wanted revenge on the human race for taking him out of his beloved thrush family. He still believes himself to be a true thrush, so he created an anagram from his genus and the family he did not wish to leave. He wrote this book on Runescape knowing that Runescape is played by many young children, and those children would like to read a book about this game. He also knew that the parents would love to help their children read as opposed to playing this game. The book has several subliminal messages in it that could only be created by a thrush mastermind. These messages command young children, the future of the human race, to commit suicide and to take as many other young people as they can down with them. Parents: Do not let your kids read this book. Do not read this book yourself. Any older players who have purchased this book: stay away from it. Dispose of it as soon as possible. Anyone who reads the words in this is in inevitable danger and should be killed immediately. This is a warning. j/k; all credits to Redmage Foxx You're being watched.
July 27, 200817 yr From what I'm hearing of it, it sounds incredible. I was cautious at first, but now that it's getting such good reviews by so many high-ranking 'scapers (High-ranking in my opinion atleast. Anyone who I remember the name on on Tip.it is high-ranking to me, being how sparsely I'm on these forums(IE: Roswell)) I'm highly thinking of buying it. Hopefully it'll be the next in the large collection of really well-done Fantasy titles that I've been reading over the last year or two. EDIT: Oh my god. That last post was hillarious.
July 27, 200817 yr T. S. Church is a ****ing bird. A thrush, to be precise. Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man. You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.
July 27, 200817 yr I won't buy the book, since the game is enough for me :). Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
July 27, 200817 yr You know what would be awsome, if you type up the first chapter for us! Or at least give us a review and summary!

The book is from Jagex, a company with hundreds of employees that obviously has good business people running it. Do you honestly think that a company like that would try to sell a book that wasn't any good for $22? And besides, Jagex probably (not saying that they definitely did) had a writing contest for its employees to see who would write the book. Don't you think that the best writer out of several hundred well-educated adults with white-collar jobs would have to be pretty damn good? As for myself, I might get the book if it comes out in paperback (paperbacks are a lot cheaper than hardcovers). Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:
July 28, 200817 yr You know, going by what high ranked people on a game say isn't the best choice imo for judging a book.... I might get it sometime after a few credible sources give it some good reviews, which i'm sure it will get.... You see, i'm in the middle of re-reading one of Piers Anthony's series, (Incarnations of Immortality, for those of you who care.) thus I would have no reason to start a new book in the middle of this one. Oh yeah, how big is the font? :P Can be looted to obtain a variable item and reobtain the imp jar. If you are insane, it can instead be exchanged for impling jars from Elnock Inquisitor.

What you fail to realize Highlanders, is that you are not buying a book from an unknown author. Rather, you are buying a product from a company that you enjoy. Take Oakley for example. I have used their sunglasses for years. When they came out with goggles for Motorcross, I grabbed them. And I loved them. Then they came out with snowboard gear. I hesitated, and purchased the pants because I knew Oakley's quality standards, and I assumed that the pants would meet those standards. I was not disappointed; rather, I found the pants to be better padded, better built, and warmer then my Spyder pants. (Look up Spyder if you do not have the background) So tell me, do you enjoy Jagex's product, Runescape? If you do, why do you hesitate to buy another product from Jagex? "The greatest joy a man can know is to conquer his enemies and drive them before him. To ride their horses and take away their possessions. To see the faces of those who were dear to them bedewed with tears, and to clasp their wives and daughters in his arms." -Genghis Khan
July 28, 200817 yr Sounds pretty interesting. Library thing I guess... I assume my parent's response to buying it would be a bit embarrassing. He/she/it is back!

July 28, 200817 yr I got a hit on his name: Timothy S. Church a physiology doctor. If Fairness is correct and this a pen name then it stops my hunch cold. The only regonnizable person with that name is the physiology guy. just thoguht u guys could need something to blow your minds out... :ugeek:
July 28, 200817 yr Playing Runescape, okay. Reading a book about Runescape? Going a bit to far in my humble opinion. Why not read some good literature, like John Grisham, or a newspaper? Or at least the Donald Duck. The Ultimate Green Dragon GuideDon't hate me, just let me ride.Lord, just give me life.

Or at least the Donald Duck. There's so such thing as good literature. Books are different and so are people's likes. Reading William Shakespear is no better than reading TS Church if you don't like Shakespear. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."

July 29, 200817 yr You know, I wonder if Betrayal at Falador will be sold in bookstores. It would be pretty cool to see a Runescape-based novel at Borders. : I suppose we'll have to wait and see what happens in the near future. The future feels a long way off, Skiittles11
July 30, 200817 yr Author TS. Church also plays RS btw (or so it says in the book). [-- DYNAMIC SIGNATURES FOR RUNESCAPE 3 & OLDSCHOOL 2007 RUNESCAPE --]
