Hmm, I always come late to these discussions... Right before bed though to start a new conversation. I'm trying to change my social behavior from a rather drawn back and out going to friends, to a step below player. Today was the first day and it seemed to go alright, I just need to remember to keep chatting up all that I can and be upbeat as much as possible, heck confidence is the main new part that made me go with this so hopefully I can even get a girlfriend. Yes, Vezon I did see your post, but for now I figure my first girlfriend may be a bit more worthwhile than a bit of cash. Only thing is that I have around 3 girls that I would like to date... All of them decent in 90% of ways, although one has the best smile ever...

You should date someone when you actually want to be with them, not just whenever you want to say that you have a girlfriend. The fact that there's more than one person that you'd like to date isn't a good sign...

That said, pretty sure he's 14...don't know how many 14 year olds actually have serious relationships...

A 14 year old doesn't need to be in a relationship. =/

Does anyone really need a relationship? No.

I'm a year younger than bonez and I've never had a Girlfriend or anything close. So if you wanna go for it, do it Bonez

I just discovered the function that allows me to make a video on my iPod and upload it directly to Youtube.

Me and a friend did that a couple of weeks ago; we made a mini-documentary about his Pecanese (not sure of the spelling) dog.

Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.

All I was trying to say is that there's an element of risk in preaching complex adult behaviour to a 14 year old.

EDIT: Sorry, this is a response to the posts at the top of the page.

Meh, a complex adult behaviour I'm learning from 90% of the other kids my age?

Exactly. You aren't learning it from the right people....

You don't learn stuff like that from other people you learn it from experiences...

People with experience. :P

In other words, older siblings and the like.

I learned from my brother and personal experience and my peers, who learned from experience and his peers. Adults are hit and miss, mostly depends on how much of an innocent little angel they think you are (more being worse, because that normally leads to the answer of you don't need to know yet).

From my perspective, a few not so serious relationships are probably a good start, because you learn the ropes before things do get serious and your stressing out about it.

On a totally unrelated note, we have decided to skip spring for the time being and go right into summer, with a temperature of 26 degrees (Celsius), which is pretty much as warm as it ever gets here (in August, our hottest month, which might have a couple days at 30-32). Tomorrow its forecast for 9 degrees, with a slight possibility of snow next week, and below freezing again this Saturday (basically we're trying to fit a years worth of weather into 7 days).

I knew it was warm when I woke up, and decided to go with jeans and a shirt, walked out the door and right back in to change into my more summery sneakers, shorts and a tank top. Freaking awesome.

And on a side note, possibly because its so sunny and warm out, but shit got done today.

Got around to reading The Hunger Games today.

Why does everyone love it so much? It's okay, but it's basically a bloody version of The Goblet of Fire with a terrible ending.

Eh? Apart from the fact that there is some kind of tournament, I see practically no connection to the Goblet of Fire...also, if you say terrible ending...have you read all 3 books?

Kids competing in a bloody tournament, very similar to it.

No, just the first and it had a shitty ending. I've heard the third has a really bad ending too, not sure if I'll read it.

Gotta disagree here. It shares similar traits but the underlying story is vastly different. Goblet of Fire is just a usual tournament, though tuned to Voldemort's purposes and it's essentially irrelevant, just a means to get Harry to Voldemort, which is the main story really.

At the same time hunger games is kids directly fighting against each other, because they're forced to do so by an oppressive regime.

I have read both books and beyond superficial stuff I don't really see many parallels here.

I've got an important Latin exam tomorrow. Took a cold shower to motivate myself, drank a cup of coffee. Pretty sure I'll be studying into the morning hours.

You know, I feel like I'll fail university. Not because I don't have the academic capabilities, I get some of the best grades in my class and compared to others I barely work for them, but just because I cannot plan ahead at all. I can't tell myself to study an hour each evening in preparation for an exam and I sure as hell don't have the discipline to study daily for no reason other than to study. I spent all of today procrastinating studying for this exam, despite the fact I knew it's important and I need to work for it. I feel that's gonna bite me in the ass once I go to uni. Hell, I have the feeling it's gonna do that before I even get there.

On a completely unrelated note, I've been driving lately. Yesterday and today my mother gave me a few lessons, says I've improved a lot since the last time I drove. Today I drove on a regular road for the first time (usually we pick a secluded place where there aren't any cars), and while it wasn't really crowded or anything, it was still fun. Can't wait to be able to get my proper license early next year.

I'm not saying you shouldn't date. Just the whole "follow your heart" and relationship rules stuff you see in the relationship thread, a lot of it is aimed at adult relationships; relationships in your teens are very different. Most of the time (not always) they aren't as serious so....basically the best advice you can get at this point is just to not stress it.

One thing I never understood about the Hunger Games, is why does the government force their kids to fight each other...? Sounds so unrealistic.

Control. It's a show of power and authority. They are saying "Look at us. We can make you do whatever we want and you have to obey." It's also a form of punishment for the people they take the children from left over from the previous uprising (saying look at what rebelling does. Now we kill your children). And lastly, its a form of entertainment for the people who live in the Capitol. Gladiator combat, of a sort.

In Battle Royale, it's both a military research project and a way to terrorize the population.

Looks like you're going for quite the expensive computer. Looks like you're going to have fun with it. I received a bit of money myself from the taxes, but it's pretty much all going towards my credit cards lol. Finally going to have my laptop paid off (Also added an SSD to the laptop last week, the crucial M4 128GB). I want to build another desktop so bad. Will probably be building another computer as soon as I have a job, after college.

Are you still liking that laptop (It was the ASUS one, right)? I'm contemplating getting either the latest revision of it, a Sager or building a HTPC for the flatscreen I'm getting.

I'm not liking it as much as I used to. Had to RMA it once, they fixed the problem but they dropped the laptop (corner of the screen opens). When I added the SSD I found out that one of the SATA plugs might be defective, meaning I should probably send it for another RMA, but am not going to. While looking on the internet, I found out that a lot of the Asus G53 laptops have issues. This includes the fact that 3 out of the 4 Asus ROG laptops we have at college (2 G53 and 2 G73 laptops) had issues, mostly BSODs, so I guess I'm lucky on that side. One of them changed the wireless card in order to stop having the blue screens.

Which is why I suggest against going for an Asus Republic of Gamers laptops. Regular Asus laptops are still top of the line, and top quality. I don't know why the lack of quality and all the design/manufacture issues are only on the Republic of Gamers laptops. So far I found that regular laptops and motherboards are untouched by the issues, only the republic of gamers laptops are hit by these issues.
