Next skill that's officially been killed - Prayer

Featured Replies

Yep, Jagex released "Grind-X" for Grinding Bones & gathering Bone Meal. Good job Jagex, no really good job.

And this kills Prayer because...?

138 Combat as of Summer 2010 - Retired Summer 2010

The player house gilded altar already made it 'easy'.

You still need to stock up on buckets of ecto, and mix them all together with your grounded bone at the ectothingie.

No, this made the ectofuntus a somewhat viable option again for those who want to do a little less clicking on the way to 99 prayer. I'm sure gilded altar is still a whole lot faster. If they ever addded an "Offer-X" option, THAT would make this skill even easier. Not this.

Jagex killed Prayer when they released RS2.

Even the first ecto update was something we would call "Ruining a skill" its already been done guys every skill almost. I dont care anymore. Adjust to changes easier or harder its their game let them do what they want with it.

I think I remember Paul himself saying publicly in 2006 (when someone finally got 99 prayer, I think it was Lilyuffie) something along the lines of:

No one would still be anywhere near it if we didn't release RuneScape 2.

rs2 update didn't make it that much easier- the original grinding update and then construction were the main reasons why it isn't as respected anymore.

But yeah- this update will not change the current situation much.

Boo hoo. Doesnt make it any cheaper to train prayer just a little faster

Wow, those 1.4k dragon bones lying in my bank seem to be calling me loudly once again.

70 Prayer is going to be a scratch :D

Break the Walls down!

It'll be either the same as using a Gilded or even less exp/hour than that. This didn't change anything.

Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color]

I don't see how overexerting your wrist equals to better gameplay or being a better player, so I can only be happy about this update.

It's been obvious for months, years even, that Jagex is trying to eliminate the grinding aspects of this game. This is surely not the last "do-x".

I don't get it, how is this now "easier"?

It's no faster, no cheaper, no more experience than before. It just has a option which gives your wrist a break before it gives itself Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Safety comes first. ;)

I would still much rather take half as much time for the same exp with the gilded alter.

Lily was the first to get 99 and it was well before the ectofungus was ever introduced into the game. She did it the old fashioned way of pure burying.

The reason paul said that is that the exp of bones was significantly increased with RS2, making a lot less bones to reach 99. I want to say that dragon bones were almost doubled in exp, but I can't remember that far back. I do remember her being shocked when she buried her first bone on RS2 and realized with the increased exp that she had 99 prayer banked and didnt need to buy any more bones.

Ya, I've been around too long.

IIRC the xp for drag bones were 60 back in RSC. I remember noticing the increase in xp when beta was released and keeping all my d-bones until the real release came. I also think regular bones used to be 2,5xp but can't remember big bones.

Ty Jeppoz for making it. Thx to the Pup for finding it after it got lost :D And thx to Kill_Life and Turtle for the ava.

Stoltenberg, 22/7-11: "We will retaliate with more democracy" In remembrance of Oslo/Utøya. May we never forget, nor be pulled down to the level of the beast

You don't even know if this raises the EXP per HR significantly enough to warrant the extra hours spent sloshing through and gathering ectoplasm + bone meal for an extra what, 60xp per bone?

Altar's always going to be the choice for me. There's always an open one and I never have to collect ectoplasm again.

Now if they still allowed you to BUY ectoplasm from the Charter Ships and this update came out...then I might've had something to squawk about with you ;)

Just as a reminder to some people, do-x actually makes many skills slower, not faster. It just eliminates some of the grinding clicking. This update will not influence prayer at all.

Exactly. Wait another week and find something else to whine about.

"Waa waa waa, boo hoo, a skill has become marginally easier to train, now someone else can reach the same level as me with fewer clicks, they don't deserve it, this is MY skill, the world is unfair, Jagex is teh suxx0r, RS is dead."

Get the [bleep] over it.

I don't think thats quite possible to slow the grinder down though, since previously you had to put the bone in, grind, then fill the bucket and repeat...1 at a time...(Unless I'm really tired right now and not thinking right/Never knew you could put multiple bones in)

This is just silly. Gilded altars all but removed the point of the Ectofuntus -- they need to make it better for it to be worth the bother.
