If Jagex does break free from their constant "Kid Friendly" attitude, would people look at is as comparable to other leading Titles? If it looks like RS, than it stands a very small chance to gain any status in comparison to leading titles such as LOTRO, WoW, EQ2, Guild Wars 2 etc etc. We are almost in year 2009 and people want to use their computers with games that can give them the "wow-effect" (not world of warcraft). Maybe that's why they don't make modern ones, cause that game just sucks. Personally I bet Mechscape won't be very good. Also I can't keep myself from thinking of Stronghold, playing an MMORPG in stronghold style with all the good stuff from Runescape would be cool. I know, looking at the title Mechscape it would probably be something with robots (mechs) thus Sci-fi. Then again, you never know. Some of the greatest minds the world has ever known had lower 'than expected' IQ's because they spealised in a particular field. Anyway on topic I'm not too excited about Mechscape as Sci-fi isn't really a choice genre of mine. Tests tend to be highly subjective and compartmentalised. I've passed many a test with flying colours without ever really learning the material - cramming is great in the short term but in the long term you might aswell not bother. Anyway back to the original topic, I await Mechscape with baited breath! I think those who are expecting some sort of gaming utopia with not a minor in site will be sorely disappointed. Good luck finding an MMORPG that doesn't have a large contingent of 'leet pwners'! I have faith in Jagex, they've provided us with a great game in RuneScape and I'm confident they can deliver something that maintains the standards they've set for themselves whilst bringing something new to the 'Scape' world. Also I've been thinking on how a game would look like when you take the best of Runescape and the best things of MechWarrior. And I came to the conclusion that I can't wait for it to come out.
