Chaotic Rapier vs Longsword

And give me proof of a place where non-Chaotic > CLS. I personally haven't heard of any not named Waterfiends.

Maybe not better, but whip = CLS on slayer.

I don't have much proof...but

Whip > CLS at any slayer task not named Dark Beast, Iron/steel/mith dragon.

Well I meant besides slayer and combat training, since that's the focus. Corp...guess so, but that's still only 1 place.

Besides where CLS is not best, where is is not the best? I don't think it's really fair to ask for non-chaotic weapons stronger than chaotic weapons. It's not like you have the choice between CLS and whip, you have the choice between CLS and rapier.

I'm saying you ask where CLS is beaten by nonchaotic weapons, then you say we can't say slayer because that's not the focus. Also I'm saying you shouldn't compare CLS to nonchaotic, you should compare it to a chaotic rapier.

Oh, I see.

See, the discussion (or at least, the one you quoted) was when I stated that for maxed melee players with 99 sum, 95 pray, and overlords, CLS is better than the Rapier or the Maul because it is second-best at everything as opposed to best at only some things.

The point then came up that non-Chaotic weapons beat CLS at certain locations, and I asked where those locations were. I did not make it clear that I was still talking about players who have maxed melee and therefore are not interested in training melee combat and perhaps melee slayer either (even since I maxed melee, I've been range slaying unless the task necessitates melee or magic).

So the question really is, for a player with maxed melee, 99 sum, 95 pray, extremes, and overlords, where is a location where the CLS < a non-chaotic weapon?

And I WAS comparing it to Rapier and the Maul, this question is just a side-note because of my curiosity. I simply want to know whether the CLS isn't as good as non-chaotic weapons for some locations (again, slayer and training excluded) and evidently, it is, because bladewing says Corp is one of those locations.

Outside slayer and training, CLS is always an upgrade to whatever you used before. I's not always the best upgrade, but it's better.

(sidenote: you call them overlord? cause the game calls them overload)

I'm interested in buying a chaotic weapon for nothing but pking (I'm maxed in all those combat things). What should I get?

Generally rapier owns CLS for pking, due to the opponent being able to eat twice inbetween each hit with CLS. But since everyone is going to be a defence neeb at your level you might need the added accuracy of CLS to actually hit.

That requires Vengeance to KO, and usually it backfires. Plus the fact you lose the shield slot.

And give me proof of a place where non-Chaotic > CLS. I personally haven't heard of any not named Waterfiends.

Maybe not better, but whip = CLS on slayer.

This is not true... Been using my CLS for 3 days on slayer mostly, it outclasses whip at almost all places. Spirit mages seem to be an exception, since they have such low defence and pretty low HP that you can 2 hit them with whip or CLS.

And you have data to back that up, I assume? Slayer monsters have such low defense that speed becomes very important. Only at monsters like dark beasts and mithril dragons would CLS be better.

Instead of poring over data I've actually been playing the game...

I have been killing some things that DO have higher defence, as one often does when using Kuradel. My tasks have been Skeletal Wyverns, Fire Giants, Blue Dragons, Dark Beasts, Abyssal Demons, Ice Strykewyrms.

Anyway you're right about speed, I'm bringing DDS as my primary wep to my next task I think.

I don't know if you know, but part of collecting data is playing the game. That's, uh . . . pretty obvious.

As for your slayer issues, it does depend on your levels and the way you're slaying, admittedly. If you're using extremes, turmoil, a combat familiar, a cannon, and moving as quickly as possible, a whip will beat a CLS on most tasks, undoubtedly.

Your sarcastic comment is more asinine than scathing.

Mauls have a very big weakness: with huge hits, comes huge vengeance recoils. You may be able to smack a 590, but in exchange there is a high possibility you'll be Venged for 500 damage. Also, unless you get off a lucky combo, it's moderately difficult to KO somebody using a maul. You often need to use a granite maul as a spec weapon or vengeance to finish people off.

I see plenty of people destroying with mauls. Without veng combos or gmaul specs. Mauls hit high and most people don't eat as high as they hit. Never get rapier for pking. It just fails. All the time trust me. Rapier kids are the easiest to kill.

Um, I've heard a rumour that Chaotic Crossbow is now 120 range bonus instead of 100? Is that true? Anyone confirm please?

Edit - Nvm

Wonder how this is going to affect people's decision though. 30 range bonus is quite alot

Personally I was going to go with the CLS originally, but I think I'm leaning more towards the Rapier now just because of Slayer. From a few friends that have both rapier seems to be the more viable option for Slayer. Most tasks I usually do nowadays are weak to stab which the CR is better in. (Metal Drags), plus most other tasks are weak to everything. I'm closing in on 70M Attack to 200M and I'm trying to find the faster option to go with.
