My bank recently got bought, and the new bank doesn't allow gaming transactions on their cards, for some reason. Anyways, this happend about 4 months ago, and this month, they declined payment of rs. My membership ended, but there is like a 10 day grace period where jagex keeps trying to bill your card. So I kept my 5 dollar a month bill by using a different card, and switched banks a few days later. This new bank actually allows me to use my card to buy things I want to buy. :D

 

This is weird. I honestly doubt they decline gaming transactions... If you live in the US maybe it was because it was an international transaction?

 

When the grandfathering of payments first came into place I thought about keeping my sub, but realized I wouldn't play at all so I just canceled. I have a tendency to play this game in spurts of a month or two at a time with equal or more time off. Some months I'm just less busy than others and I need to fill time. The dollar savings doesn't make up for the month or two where I wouldn't even play.

It doesnt keep me from quitting as I dont really feel like quitting. :P

$5 means nothing to me tbh. I regularly play for more than that in just 1 pokerhand lol.

It shouldn't keep you from quitting anyway, you can cancel it easily.

I have a large loyalty to Jagex. I have barely had time to play this game in the past couple months, but I haven't even thought of canceling my subscription.

 

I mean if I live for 100 more years, I'll end up spending ~5000 more dollars on this game. I'm kinda okay with that. I've played since I was in middle school (gosh...close to 10 years ago) and the only times I stopped subscribing were when my mom stopped paying for discipline reasons...lol

 

Now that I have my own cards, I just let my membership keep renewing and never even stop to think about it.

According to the Billing FAQ, you should get the 'Loyalty Rate' if your membership hasn't been interrupted for 2 weeks.

Oddly enough, I'm not on the loyalty rate. I let my membership last for a couple of weeks last year.

 

I log in every day, but on many days I just go buy my daily battlestaves. Then on some days, I'll be in for 10 hours. It just depends.

If I ever quit, it wont be because of the price.

The price of 1 month of runescape is less then a venti latte at starbucks. If the cost of this game affects any decisions you make then you have bigger problems then the monthly bill of runescape.

I could dance outside of the beer store for one afternoon while my girlfriend bangs on a plastic bucket and make enough cash to play this game for 3 months.

 

I spent more on a bottle of scotch then 4 years playing this game.

 

To put things in perspective... one go at the movies costs like 2 months of runescape.

Well, that's dumb. My membership has lapsed tens of times, mainly because if I'm not going to play, I'm not going to pay. But we're talking about a dollar or so a month? It's not really worth complaining over.

I don't think it's what keeps me playing...By any means. What I do on RuneScape I could do just as easily as a Free to Play player. It hasn't effected me in the slighteste. However, I will probably look into canceling my Membership subscription when Stellar Dawn is released and see what's going on over there.

I just bought a $10 card for one month worth of playing. Clearly I don't really care. I buy 1 month of membership a year and for the other 11 months I play pretty much not at all. It has nothing to do with the price.

 

That and the game really does suck. Just to a lesser degree with membership.

My membership lapsed earlier this year when I stopped playing for a few weeks and did some other stuff. Honestly it's less than a dollar in difference, and with runescape membership so cheap compared to other games it's no big deal to me. It's a nice perk for those who don't want to take a break and keep there membership continuously active though.

Even recently after not playing Runescape for 164 days, I was still paying for the membership automatically with my card, knowing that I would still at least be supporting the game. And yeah, I only pay like £3/month for it because of that. And really, it's not that much to keep the developers supported.

I actually cancel my membership right after purchasing a new month because I never know when I will stop playing. I don't mind paying the higher price when I know it could save me ~$5 if I accidentally forget to unsubscribe and I don't want to play anymore.

Oh, and don't forget, Jagex said that after paying the 6$ rate for a year straight, it goes back down to 5$. So really I'm only paying an extra 12 bucks a year if I continue members.

The thing about runescape is that it is so insanely cheap it doesn't matter. Paying $5 a month for runescape(my only MMO) and $5 a month for xbox live. Still cheaper than WOW, so I am happy.

No. My obsession with Runescape and inability to quit is what keeps me from from quitting Runescape lol.

No. I think I lost it TBH. I wouldn't care if RS was 6 bucks now, and 15 if I quit. If i got bored, I'd stop playing and just pay the extra 10 bucks a month if I came back.

Man, I'm so proud of all these kool kids that come here to tell me how terrible this game is when we're on a FREAKING FANSITE.

Ever been to OT? Nearly everyone in there is retired from Runescape and can acknowledge how bad of a game it is. The community keeps us here, the non-Runescape forums are a pretty good discussion place. I only wander over here to General Discussion when i'm completely bored.
