October 1, 201015 yr RSwiki for random stuff / gp per xp calculators. tip.it for guides I would really like to see an addition of gp/xp on the current skill calculators.
October 1, 201015 yr I use Rswiki because it has awesome pictures. And I admit, I love using them for my guides. I'm crap at image editing so... Otherwise, everything Runescape, I talk about it in Tip.It. October 1, 201015 yr Only other site I go to is RS Wiki cuz of the sheer amount of information they have, and how fast they update. Whether or not to trust that info is another story, but they usually get it right.
October 1, 201015 yr I edit RS wiki religiously, so I obviously visit there a lot. However, I think Tip.It's item database is unrivaled (I'm working on fixing the wiki's item pages). I also like the community here, which the wiki doesn't really have much of. I don't use RuneHQ or Zybez very often, and I find that they load particularly slowly. As for Sal's, they obviously had the best quest guides, but they're often outdated and are slow to make them. My two gp. October 1, 201015 yr i like rs wiki because if i just want information on just one item/character/place/monster, say, raw beast meat, i can type it in and it'll bring up ONLY the relevant information on raw beast might. on tip.it it can be a bit more of a hassle finding snippets of information in another guide This. I did use Sal's quest guides back in 2006 when I was doing quests. Havent really since. ........::::: Rainy's YouTube Channel - Rainy's Twitter - Rainy's Facebook - Rainy's DeviantArt - Rainy's Tumblr - Rainy's Tip.It Profile :::::.........
October 1, 201015 yr I use Wiki quite a lot for its pretty in depth details on various aspects of the games, especially more specific things. Pretty handy for Dungeoneering too because of the boss information it has. I used to browse RHQ's Forums when Tip.It suffered it's downtime periods a lot, but other than that I use Tip.It for everything. "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale."
October 1, 201015 yr Zybez, runeHQ for some calculators. Dragon drops: 82 (2 claws)Dagannoth kings drops: 73Barrows item count: 51GWD drops: 54 (5 hilts: 1x bandos, 3x saradomin, 1x zamorak)Whips: 4Sigils: 1x spectral (FFA), 1x arcane (FFA)
October 1, 201015 yr I only use Tip.It. When I was part of the Tip.It Crew, I used to check fansites more often, but that was never for my personal use, only for fact-checking. I'm sure that the communities are great for other fansites, but really, I only trust information provided by Crewbies from Tip.It, as I know what work they put in to make sure that the information they are providing is as accurate as possible.
October 1, 201015 yr I use Tip.It mostly, but if I'm honest I do check the RS Wikia for random things, like checking facts when writing a Times article. The random trivia on each item, quest, update, is also interesting too :P I also use their calculators for gp per xp ect. But I do think Tip.it is a stronger site in general. I edit for the [Tip.It Times]. I rarely write in [My Blog]. I am an [Ex-Moderator].
October 1, 201015 yr I used Runehq in the distant past (this was back when it had like 5 sections on a bar along the top, no sidebars etc) but after finding Tipit I've never used another. The problem for us is that we only have a finite about of crew, whereas wiki has the whole world if they want. I thionk to compete with that, we should do some sort of thing letting forum users taskes to writing certain parts of the site with the crew implementing them. At the moment the crew also do a large chunk of the research which takes up a lot of time. We have so many great guides in the AOW that would really help on the mainsite for those who don't want to view the forums. Want to be my friend? October 1, 201015 yr Sorry tip.itThe primary site I use for info would be RS Wiki. The sheer scale of it all dwarfs every other fansite out there. Plus frequent updates to popular articles and any user can modify an article should there be errors in it. Overall, it's much more comfortable to use than tipit and other fansites. I don't see any competition to them.Zybez is great for its calculators. RuneHQ for it's dated, but still useful house planner. Tipit has a number of useful calculators too, and a nice equipment setup planner (which, by the way is still ridden with issues regarding the categorization of items). I still use tipit forums, the community is awesome, though it certainly has seen better years. RSC is great aswell. Haven't used other forums, so can't compare. My vote goes to RSwiki, then.
October 1, 201015 yr i like rs wiki because if i just want information on just one item/character/place/monster, say, raw beast meat, i can type it in and it'll bring up ONLY the relevant information on raw beast might. on tip.it it can be a bit more of a hassle finding snippets of information in another guide That's why I use it too! Very easy and convenient to find information. ^^ However I always use tip.it for quest guides, calclulators, the signature tools, pretty much everything else. ^^
October 1, 201015 yr I use the RS wiki for everything basically, apart from some of the calculators on here. The articles on the wiki are far more in depth than ones anywhere else, and thats the main reason I use them. 99 Attack - Done
October 1, 201015 yr Zybez has a nice penguin location checklist.Zybez also has a "last GE time" thing, granted it's extremely inaccurate.Zybez also does not have any remote shortage of graphics artists working on the front page. TBH I only come to TIF for the forums, we definitely have the most talkative forum community.Don't really use guides anymore. RS wiki is the ONLY fansite that has data on game ticks that i know of.And since rs wiki's game tick data is updated rarely (some data points have been incorrect for years)this leaves much to be desired.
October 1, 201015 yr RSW has massive amounts of info that cannot be beat with a limited amount of editors. But it doesn't have tip,it's skill calcs or equipment stat comparer. That sort of thing is useful. Also it doesn't have awesome fora. October 1, 201015 yr For general help/information: RS Wiki usually, followed by Zybez and Tip.It if I think there's more I should know. For quest help: RuneHQ, Zybez, RSW. Depends on the quest. For calculators: Tip.It only. For community: Tip.It, and very seldom Zybez. (Also, clan forums of course.)
October 1, 201015 yr For forums and community content: Tip.It For calculators and planners: Tip.It For general information: RS Wiki For quest guides: Zybez Tip.It really need to have an overhaul of its main site. The forums here are amazing, and dynamic content and calculators are really good, but the guides leave something to be desired, and RS Wiki can't be beaten for general information on a subject simply because of its Wiki nature. It's no big deal that we can't really compete with RS Wiki on what it does, but it is a big deal that the main site design is outdated and the guides leave something to be desired. They need to be more concise, consistent, and clear. ~ W ~
October 1, 201015 yr RSWiki for items, Zybez for quests. I only use Tip It for the skill calculators and planners, and the forums. I don't like the colors or the quest guides Tip It has. "Only by going too far can one find out how far one can go." T.S. Eliot
October 1, 201015 yr On Tip.it's I just use the forums, the site itself I don't use it, I preffer RSWiki more :/ although, for Skill Guides/Planners/Calculators and the XP Table, that's only viewed on Tip.it by me :3
October 1, 201015 yr I have never used RS Wiki before now, I started with Sal's Realm until I discovered Tip.it. I have used Rune HQ, but it's a pain to load up if your PC is even a little bit slow. Having seen it mentioned on here I went to have a look at RS Wiki and yes I have to say it does have a lot of useful information, I like the table on RS abbreviations....very good. The forum there is not very active but they have some excellent forum rules that may be of use to Tip.it, particularly the direct quote below, which is item 4 under the 'Threads' heading: No "f2p vs. p2p", "Jagex ignores f2p", "riot for f2pers", "update f2p", or anything along those lines. These threads serve no constructive purpose and will be locked on sight. If you want the full version of the game, fork over the incredibly reasonable $5/month or just be grateful for what you have (tons compared to most MMORPGs). Neutral threads such as "f2p training", "when to switch to members?", etc. are fine as long as they are discussed in a constructive and mature fashion. So generally complaining and making demands about RS as a free game vs what p2p get, is not allowed. I personally was delighted to see this included in a forum for RS and I think Tip.it should follow suit.
October 1, 201015 yr Author Heres what I have so far: Its pretty much obvious that there no way tip.it can compete with the sheer content of rs wiki, but the following does look doable --> Adopting and refining good AOW Guides as "official" (or "unofficial") tip.it guides, and providing links some where on the main page...Personally this is something I've always wanted to see inplemented--> Overhaul many guides includeing quests, monsterhunting, minigames and others I thionk to compete with that, we should do some sort of thing letting forum users taskes to writing certain parts of the site with the crew implementing them. At the moment the crew also do a large chunk of the research which takes up a lot of time. We have so many great guides in the AOW that would really help on the mainsite for those who don't want to view the forums.Letting the community write certain parts and haveing the crew go over them could cut down on alot of stress and time. Great idea.--> A more informative bestiary with drop tables percentages and maybe fighting style/weakness (info provided by a big community post), Also a guide that lists some of the best monsters to get a certain color charm/ type of herbs from I would really like to see an addition of gp/xp on the current skill calculators.--> gp/xp additions on tip.it calculators is a really good idea and could be implemented easily. 1,000 F2P Total Level Reached 10/8/10 ! October 2, 201015 yr Heres what I have so far: Its pretty much obvious that there no way tip.it can compete with the sheer content of rs wiki, but the following does look doable --> Adopting and refining good AOW Guides as "official" (or "unofficial") tip.it guides, and providing links some where on the main page...Personally this is something I've always wanted to see inplemented This is something that would be possible. What could happen is that under "Guides" on the main site, it could link to "Archive of Wisdom", under which direct links to all the guides are placed. This is bothersome, however, because a) many guide writers would no longer write for the sole purpose of helping others, and b) it makes Tip.It accountable for any information or opinions in the guides, and c) still gives the authors the ability to freely edit, which may be abused. --> Overhaul many guides includeing quests, monsterhunting, minigames and others I thionk to compete with that, we should do some sort of thing letting forum users taskes to writing certain parts of the site with the crew implementing them. At the moment the crew also do a large chunk of the research which takes up a lot of time. We have so many great guides in the AOW that would really help on the mainsite for those who don't want to view the forums.Letting the community write certain parts and haveing the crew go over them could cut down on alot of stress and time. Great idea. We rarely take submissions verbatim, and although it would be helpful in this case, I'm not sure to what extent the other Crew members would be content with this. I, personally, see no issue, as all submissions would be checked by Crew for errors. --> A more informative bestiary with drop tables percentages and maybe fighting style/weakness (info provided by a big community post), Also a guide that lists some of the best monsters to get a certain color charm/ type of herbs from The Rock Lobster and Waterfiends guides are both up, and to my knowledge, both completely up-to-date. Drop tables might be more effort that it's worth, considering the sheer magnitude of "interesting" monsters that warrant study and the sheer magnitude of drops each would have. I would really like to see an addition of gp/xp on the current skill calculators.--> gp/xp additions on tip.it calculators is a really good idea and could be implemented easily. Would love this personally. I'm not sure the extent to which this is practical, as I am not a coder on the Crew, but I will say that adding this may seem like Tip.It is favoring a certain style of play, which the Crew generally does not want to do outside of Monster Hunting Guides. By adding gp/xp ratios, some people might interpret it as encouraging the adoption of playing via efficiency. Personally, I see no problem with it, but just putting that out there. ~It's Super Effective! October 2, 201015 yr I only use tip.it for the forums and RSWiki for information. I don't really think tip.it can compete with RSWiki on information, but tip.it has some useful calculators that I use.
October 2, 201015 yr RS wiki of course, it has pretty much all the info on runescape that is even remotely useful or interesting. Guides, lore, history (of the game), characters, item info, etc. Tip.it can't really compete with a wiki as wikis have an indefinite number of potential editors vs tif's obviously limited number. Though one thing to note, you always have to take info posted on the wiki with a grain of salt, especially if it is relating to new content. Remember when the Balmung came out? Yeah you know what I'm talking about. ;)
