I voted yes. I enjoyed the game much more when it didn't have dedicated pk worlds with some obnoxious system to figure out what you get from a kill. I also enjoyed being able to trade as much as I want to anyone I want. Also if someone is addicted enough to spend real money on runescape items let them be that stupid. It never effected me(selfish? yes but I don't care).

 

Personally I think Jagex is just fooling us. They said they don't know what number will convince them. My guess is no matter what number we reach they won't be satisfied...

Honestly, a lot of people against this seem to think it'll be the end of the world, and there'll be 10 RWT and botters per actual player, but we already have huge issues with both of those. This update might cause an initial jump, but in the long run, botting and RWTing will probably be the same it is now. What I'm really hoping for is an end to inflationscape, and hoping the economy stabilizes and prices fall again, instead of ending up with the ridiculous prices we have now. I'm really, really hopeful for this, but I have a feeling it won't pan out somewhere along the line, and I'll end up severely disappointed.

I hope they also think what will happen to those that were logged out in wildy before patch and they logging in after wildy patch and would get pked if unlucky.

 

What comes to items i would personally try to get as much pure gold as possible and wait how prices will be getting in next couple months...it could be great opportunity to buy lower/mid rares when free trade is added.

lets say there is a player with 4 mil gp/hour

and he can earn 50k rc xp/hour @ zmi at 0 profit.

lets say, he could hire people to run essence for 150k rc xp/hour @ zmi.

lets say each essence gives him 17 rc xp.

 

he would be able to justify paying up to 8 mil gp for that xp.

 

this translates to paying an additional 900 gp ontop of the street price of pure essence

per pure essence delivered.

 

of course it wouldn't be worth it to actually pay that high because you'd only reach parity efficiency.

But yeah, 500 gp/ess delivered I'd pay hands down, if I weren't planning on getting 99 off effigies.

 

I wonder how else free trade would let me exploit manual labor.

I could hire noobs to trade me logs @ lumberyard probably.

Why do i somehow remember laws maxing out at around 40k rc xp(free-fast-laws)? I doubt zmi will be any better, furthermore getting alot of runes every time, so i doubt even 100k xp an hour is possible. The best nature running(the kind larryr had) was maybe about 60k rc xp an hour too, probably less.

Fast-free-laws was very different from the nature systems that were set up. Fast-free-laws required the crafters to run in and out of the altar and find someone to trade with. The nature systems often had people forming lines so that the crafter was CONSTANTLY crafting and they never had to move anywhere, thus speeding up the process. I don't have specific xp/hour rates that I can confirm but it seems very likely that the nature methods allowed for more xp (and certainly profit, if you wanted it).

Honestly this is just an annoyance for me: I doubt I'll be doing any more KBD slayer tasks, wildy clues will be a pain, and (Thank god I already have my qp cape) all the quests in the wildy will be more annoying than ever to complete. Meh, nothing lifechanging and I'll still play, but I prefer my gameplay free of other players attacking me (If I so choose to play that way).

 

I'm sorry you can't use the wild as a safe place to do your slayer tasks or commodity the KBD anymore. I'm sure the wild was meant to be a place to afk, grind, and skill like the rest of runescape.

 

Slayer tasks/KBD aren't in the wilderness. It helps to use examples that actually apply.

I'm pretty sure trollz was replying to all those complaining about the dangers of going to CTs for tasks (nechs, dusties), or KBD as aspeeder said.

Which explains why i mentioned almost half the xp rate for the lower rune, but not experience rates going far north of 60k. For fast-free-laws i was able to get around 35k xp an hour running out of altar 20% of the time. It'd doubtful that we'd have a far better system than the one at law altar for zmi, and zmi really suffers from the multiple rune types(having to drop ~10 different piles of runes before each trade).

I would love to see both things re-introduced, but I can just see too many negative effects, RWT and such.

 

But JaGex say that they are better equipped to combat bots and other nasties, and I think, if they really can, then I think it would be a great idea!

After reading everything that Mod Mark have said and now I am going against it. The idea on scraping brawlers, bounty worlds and PvP worlds are ridiculous.

Having 1/2 full pvp worlds and non-pvp worlds up doesnt hurt as no extra computation is need to do so.

I'd imagine competition on those limited non-PvP worlds would be immense enough to keep people in PVP wild.

Also just currently thinking - What effect would this have on selling tabs of slayer loot, or MTK stuff? All that kind of thing.... I don't think I can be bothered to stand in an area with hundreds of people calling out at once trying to find where I can see my items :S

I'm not really sure about this I mean, it was only a couple of months ago when Jagex admitted that even with their advance bot detection program, a lot of bots were still able to operate undetected. Free trade's good I suppose but I'm not sure if the pros outweigh the cons.

I'm trying to imagine the conversation they had when they planned this out, or what they said to the person who had to draft the 'voting page'. How could they possibly have described this so that it sounded like a good idea?

 

"We'd like there to be a really large, gold button with the words 'Vote Yes' on it."

"Okay should the other button be silver or something?"

"...No"

 

Jagex really likes using incredibly stupid polling techniques.

 

Remember when tip.it had a poll asking users what their favorite features of third party clients were, and the option for switching worlds faster simply wasn't there? and how jagex decided that since people voted, they must not care about being able to switch worlds faster?

 

The only productive thing that could come from this poll would be jagex sifting through the IP addresses that submitted more than a dozen submissions, and banning them, and yes, I do know how futile IP bans are, yet I still say that this is the most productive thing they could do with the information.

The FAQ the comes with 'phase 2' will be nice. Will help debunk the assumptions made by the against crowd.

 

The vote is unnecessary, but if it makes them feel better, why not.

I hope phase 2 involved a separate VOTE for accounts made BEFORE the current one with the requirement of PASSWORD. (They will implement the wildy but it will be a good idea to actually see how many players want and how many player don't want this to happen)
