11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports

At 10 mins a day, you're not going to go through ports very fast :P. It's almost two months since release and practically nobody has a full set of armour yet, certainly not all three sets. And these are the people who did as many missions as possible, not the 10 mins/day regime.

60 days @ 30 mins/day = 30 hours. It depends a bit how much you have to wait between voyages and whether you can do useful stuff in between. Either way, 30 hours to get armour which you can never sell - that is the equivalent of say 100m? If you lose it, you're screwed, a full set takes 200/5 = 40 voyages, at 2-3 per day. And your two weeks is another 7 hours to gather it. Plus the repair cost.

30 mins? I don't spend anywhere near 30mins and I do it on two accs. Sure the early stages take more time spent at pop, but you're out of them fast.

I am not a skiller, but i do some skills.

only 70m for tetsu legs.......... yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaano

cbf spending so much time on tetsu for only 70m, ill make my superior sets in 3 weeks for keeps.

It's the most money I have ever made from a single item. I should still be able to make superior sets in the time it takes to finish castle wars.

Built and saved my potential "ideal" maxed crew. It assumes no personal bonus or trait bonus on the crew and only perfect traits on the captains. This is what I came up with for:

Captains:

Pure Moral - 4 moral Traits

Moral Seafaring - Moral based captain - 4 seafaring traits

Pure Combat - 4 Combat Traits

Pure Seafaring - 4 Seafaring Traits

Seafaring Combat - Seafaring Captain - 2-4 Combat Traits 0-2 Seafaring traits.

Crew:

3 Jade Merchants

4 Ox Head

3 Judge of the Dice

5 Combat

5 Moral

5 Seafaring

No Merchants

22500 Moral - 85%

22500 Combat - 85%

22500 Seafaring - 82%

Merchants

22500 Moral - 77%

22500 Combat - 74%

22500 Seafaring - 71%

No Merchants

11500 Moral - 11500 Combat - 90%

11500 Moral - 11500 Seafaring - 91%

11500 Combat - 11500 Seafaring - 91%

Merchants

11500 Moral - 11500 Combat - 83%

11500 Moral - 11500 Seafaring - 83%

11500 Combat - 11500 Seafaring - 81%

No Merchant

10000 Moral - 10000 Combat - 10000 Seafaring - 91%

Merchant

10000 Moral - 10000 Combat - 10000 Seafaring - 82%

Anyone that wants to play with it, username is maxedports password is 12345

This is all reasonable in my mind, only thing I would consider is an addition judge and merchant, thing is though you don't use judges on single stat ones and I'm hoping to have scroll missions for a while which don't need merchants which is why I went for this build.

As a note all of these numbers could potentially be higher if you got crew with traits/personal bonuses and personal bonuses on captains.

Thought this was pretty funny. Such a ruthless portmaster.

Depends on the order you do them. Will you sign the treaty first and then siege them into submission, or siege them first then sign an alliance...

You will want more ox. They are equal on doubles and best for triples that's why I chose less. Normal crew

I agree with some previous posters here who said that the port armours should get some sort of set effects. If nex gear has damage bonus, why not give port armours defense bonus? I know many people might disagree, considering that in most cases damage is more important than defense. However, not everyone plays the same way and not every player/team should use the exact same strategies to fight different bosses. It would give more reason to have tank in bossing teams. I do realise port armour has already high defense, but why not add for example a small damage soak similar to spirit shields for having the whole set?

I personally enjoy having alot of hitpoints and armour, even if it might effect my killing speed when fighting against bosses. Even if the kills take longer, I like feeling a bit safer with more room for error - as I tend to make mistakes quite often, especially with the new combat system.

EDIT: I sold my Sea Singer hood for 18m. It's not bad price considering the usefulness of tradeable helm, but then again how much some people got for theirs, it's a bit dissapointing. I am not sure whether I should just make the superior armour next and forget about trying to make profit..
