there is a new, clever as heck, account scam. it works like this: a person says they're quitting rs and gives you their pass. you say thanks, change the pass on the account, try to set the recovery questions, then log into the account and find out it's a sweet pk'ing account with really good stats, but only clothing in the bank. the person is hoping you will put a bunch of good items or money on the account because you're excited to play such a good character. they then use the pass recovery system to get the account back (you'd be suprised how fast they can do it, only takes a few hours), and if you put anything in the bank or on the character, you lose it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

i almost fell for this, but i didn't put anything on the account. while checking out the character, i got pm'ed by someone who did get scammed but only lost 30 lobs. they even pk'ed with the account for 4 hours before it got taken away from them.

when i was a noob 2 things happened;

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. I almost fell for that drop ur stuff and press what ever the combinations of buttons that logs you out and it will get duplicated but i caught on

2. When i was buying coal and some guy tried to mix some iron in it...

When I was a noob I was constantly prone to scams. Some guy attempted the infamous "noted rune/mithril switch" several times on me which didn't work. Another person offered my a rune long for 8k (it was my life savings at the time and i didnt know the prices). She attempted the well-known trick of taking out the item at the last second. It failed cuz I didn't accept immediatly so I saw her switch and was able to report.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Just a few days I was scammed of items worth 300k :cry: I was havin a bank sale of my bank junk (including several rune items). a lv 65 comes along and offers 1444k (1.444mil) . This was a GREAT deal. So I accepted. atr the last second before the second trade screen, he switched it to 14,444 gp and I didn't see it and lost all my stuff for 14k -.- Thankfully I only lost my semi-valueble bank junk, and nothing really important.

Back in rsc when i just started and had the nicest friend in the world (gave me full free mith at the time, which i thought was amazing) this guy pmed me saying

ME:YEAH!

 

 

 

Him:all you have to do is change your pass to gamemaster6 (or something)

 

 

 

and logg out for 4 minutes

On RSC, don't remember when but there were very few servers. My connection was making everything lag like it always did(had dial-up back in the day) and eventually got dc'ed. Can't login either, check the worlds and that world was offline, 0 people on it. Having dial-up and that world being the only one i ever played on, i took a break and came back after a lil bit and checked one of my guys...empty(Wasn't my main tho *whew*). My brother was playing his pk character and then decides to check his main...not the place he left him, and headed toward the nearest bank(most likely to be emptied out). I don't know how they got the passwords, but i think that world crash had something to do with it.

Ok yesterday i met the worst lurer ever.

So we have this conversation and i make up that i am lagging and can not move and then she starts walking around wilderness. I decide to have some fun and take a step into wilderness and 5 secs later her friend logs on and i start having a conversation.

 

 

 

him: noob, you have no life

 

 

 

me: ok, i am the one who does not need to item scam but whatever

 

 

 

him: yeh whatever noob you have no life

 

 

 

so the conversation goes on mostly with him calling me a noob and me just sitting there laughing and all the way through his friend is still trying to get me to go into wilderness.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I then decide to have some fun and get a few of my mates to go into the wilderness and i run forward and the two lurers follow me and get killed and one of my friends gets a free santa.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

These people were so stupid because they could not of made it more obvious that they were luring.

Okay, so I was walking in Varrock, and I saw a level 20-something. Some level 30, 40 and 50s were making fun of him, calling him all kind of thing. I felt sorry for him, and decided to make him some mithril armor. I talked to him and he followed me to Falador, where I mined some coal and mithirl. He waited outside the guild, and when I was done, I went to the bank to get my hammer. As we enter the bank, I see a guy.

 

 

 

"Selling sliced bananas, 10k each!"

 

 

 

"Weird" I thought, while entering my bank. I took my hammer, and as i closed the bank window, I saw the level 20-something I was helping out say "Nooooo!"

 

 

 

"What's wrong?" I asked him. Turns out he had bought sliced bananas for 10k hoping to sell it to another guy in the bank for 500k. When he bought the bananas, both guys logged out and he was scammed. I told him about the many scammers in RuneScape, and that he should look out for people like this. Anywho, we went to Doric's, I made him some mithril items, and we walked back to the bank. We saw the same two scammers, they didn't even change world! I told him to report one, and I'd report the other. Feeling a bit guilty, since I was the one who dragged him to Falador, where he was scammed, I gave him 10k. :

Once, while merchanting ores, a level 4 logges on, and says "Selling coal, 120 each!" I trade him, he offers 1000 noted coal, I offer 120k and I accept. In the second trade window I see 100 coal instead of 1000...

 

 

 

I report him, and continue merchanting. About 10 minutes later, he logged back on. I traded him, and here's when it became funny. He offers 1000 coal, and I, knowing he'll change it to 100, offer 12k, he changes it to 100, I accept, he accepts, I accept again, he accepts again and, yup... I just bough 100 coal for 12k, 120 each! He logged out right after the trade, he probably thought he'd scammed me... Ohh yeah! That day was really awesome; I'd fooled a scammer, yet without scamming him myself... I just gave my offer :P AND I got 100 coal for 120 each :)

I was drowsy, I was on world 6, and I was merching. My latest buy had been a d med. I advertized for a while, then someone trades me and offers 500k. I think,"Cool, that's 50k more than I bought for." The guy declines, and says,"No inventory space. I'll give you my trouts." I, still eager, say,"Ok." He trades, offers 500k, and puts up the trouts. We both accept, and I accept quickly on 2nd page, then notice, in numbers, 50,000.

Now I check the 2nd trade screen very closely. When someone bought my d2h and offered a granite shield with it, I stared at the coins about 10 seconds before accepting. When I saw 1 million on 2nd screen I breathed a sigh of relief.

i got scammed plenty of times when I was buying b bones (the old switch big for little) then there was the time i lost full bronze in the trimming scam (isnt it funny that he wanted it to start with?) I love the trust game. once it went for a long time going up 1 gp at a time (lol) and i didnt get scammed.

This happened a very long time ago (3 years prob) but someone somehow convinced me to do this quest saying it was easy. I was prob level 15 or something. I actually fell for it and as I was beaten to a bloody pulp by the witch's creation, i died. I came back and the dude was still there with all my hardearned armour. I begged for it back and actually had to trade something I had in my bank for just part of my armour. I was bitter for years. I avoided that quest until a week ago, when I armed myself to the teeth and ventured in, thinking I was goign to die...and umm..it was easy. Thought it was rather funny..now that is.

I was playing diablo and while I was looking for diablo runs, someon wanted to buy a runescape account.

But I joined anyway, he said that he'd give me all these (He puts up all the rarest items in the game) if I gave him my runescape username and pass.

I went back and told him, 'Oh no! I got hacked, ill give you a better account'. I told him my friend's account. He really liked it and asked for the pass. I told him that since that account is so good, he'd have to give me more stuff to make sure he doesnt scam me. He gives me ANOTHER gc.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I tell him a fake pass, ieatzzwee. He tried to log into that one. Fails. He starts thinking that im scamming him. I tell him that that account must have gotten hacked too! I told him, 'give me a week to recover it'.

I once scammed my self :wall: I traded the guy and I put up 1k iron ore and asked for 10k :wall: dumb cal, I always use the cal two times now.

Okay I'm on my pure and a noob tries the Zammy wine Scam. I go to bank and store some bones, 640gp, Black (t) helm, and assorted runes. I'm left with 1gp, Black (t) plate and legs with R2H, I play along, die as I meant to, then I rather cheeckly Pm him if he enjoyed the 1gp.
