August 21, 200817 yr Does NATO ring any bells? I was providing pacts that were formed during the Cold War. NATO was formed during the Cold War, in 1949 if I'm not mistaken. There will be no war. America is going into economic meltdown. There's more likely to be another Great Depression than a war. Houses that would sell in England for about £900k (at least $1,500k) are selling, in Hollywood, for $86k. Just like before the last Great Depression, the banks got over-confident and started letting out loans and mortgages only asking for yearly wages mouth to mouth and not needing verification. Because of the house prices plummetting, there's no point people paying back their mortgages, noone has any cash and their houses are worthless so banks have nothing to reclaim in return. The recession the US is going through is nothing compared to the Great Depression. I doubt it's even the biggest recession that's happened since WWII. Besides, the American economy is still growing, albeit at a very slow pace, though that's mostly due to inflation. But if there really was an economic meltdown the GDP would be dropping. Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

August 23, 200817 yr I will probably be doing something somewhere oblivious to what's going on until the radios and TV stops working. I doubt they (the government controlled media) will let us know it's happened; they will just let us go on with our happy little lives and get a lethal dose of radiation. If I knew it was coming well then, I guess I would be shoveling dirt against my basement windows, moving the bathtub down their, fill it with water, fortify the back room against radiation, gather supplies including 50 pound bags of dog food, and prepare to wait the two necessary months for the world to become livable again. Only 39% of Americans voted in 2004, of which 50% voted for Bush and 49% voted for Kerry. So only about 20% of Americans voted for Bush. Understandable, considering his approval rating. Oh and about the next President, good luck getting a new President after Bush attacks Iran and delcares ML, suspending the elections.
