Just realised this...hopefully the return of WORLD 1 AND WORLD 2 TRADING!

Though it might not be as easy as doing stuff on the GE...it's still much more epic and fun.

just going to drop this here.

Oh, I see what they did there.

but seriously i don't really think they would intentionally piss of their players just to get in the world records. Or maybe they would. Either way, the rigged poll is pretty hilarious. win win scenario.

QFC?

Whoever created that picture tried to make it seem as if there was some super secret board that only jagex mods have access to and they all communicate there rather than via email or memos distributed office-wide.

I can't see the pic, what's it say?

In case it hasn't been said already (No I won't read through the thread, I didn't even read the first post or the title), there's a thread on /b/ about this. Apparently, all of the people who loved to scam and make little kids cry also had a bunch of stolen accounts, and they're using them to try to bring back the wildy. I find this funny because Gerhard said something stupid about fighting bots and account stealers in the OP.

E: And it doesn't need a password. What idiots. I just typed in the name of some random guy from this thread who said he wasn't voting.

I gotta say, I haven't played Runescape in FOREVER. But if this vote does go through, I will have to start playing again.

If it is brought back then it looks like ill be quitting again.

Not sure about this one. No doubt that with free trade limit bots will dominate the lands of runescape yet again. But then again will price manipulation clans find it hard to keep items bought out?

This is counting on the facts its true. But then again a "majority" is needed to win the vote but how much is that exactly? Only JaGeX knows.

I guess we can dismiss the last pic that was posted...

I'm still waiting if they're going to add an option to say "no". They need to realize that some of the

name voted may be names of people who are against this update. If they have no intentions

of doing this, then I can already see whats going to happen....

Its been confirmed that a "no" option will be added tomorrow

Runescape was becoming dull to me. After all these years of playing a game without free trade, this might sound bad to some, but I really would enjoy free trade alone. Even with the bots, I would be happy. I dealt with them back then, really didn't bother me.

I think we would still win either way even if we did start out with a no option

What would happen to doing quests like Spirit of Summer and Summer's End? I havent done Summer's End and i would appreciate not getting pked while im trying to complete a quest Jagex put in the friggin wildy.

Also, does anyone think this will affect price of rares negatively? or shoot them through the roof?

These are just personal questions I have about the subject, not anything probably related to the discussion atm.

Runescape Opens Petition to Reinstate the Wilderness and More

As part of RuneScapes 10th Anniversary celebrations, Jagex pledges to reinstate Free Trade and an enhanced Wilderness player-versus-player combat area provided a vast number of players cast their support at http://www.RuneScape.com/wilderness

Cambridge, UK - Tuesday 21st December 2010 - Jagex Games Studio, developer of RuneScape, the worlds most popular free-to-play MMORPG, today announced the launch of an unprecedented petition for players to decide whether to reintroduce unrestricted Free Trade and the Wilderness to RuneScape.

Jagex has launched the online petition http://www.RuneScape.com/ wilderness to offer the RuneScape community the unique chance to directly influence and shape the future of the game as the studio gears up for RuneScapes 10th Anniversary celebrations in January 2011.

We want to celebrate RuneScapes 10th anniversary by offering our loyal community the chance to decide, once and for all, the future of Free Trade and the Wilderness, said Christoph Vietzke, Head of RuneScape. Never before has an MMO developer given their community the platform to decide on an update as game changing as this and we are confident that our players will make the right call whatever it may be. We will only make the changes if the community really supports it, so if you are in favour of bringing back the Wildy, pledge your support straightaway.

When considering game changing decisions such as this we always hold our players ultimate game experience firmly in mind, said Mark Gerhard, Jagex CEO. We have released a host of new content which provides a comparable PvP experience to the old Wilderness and mechanics to allow increased trade limits with long term friends but we are still regularly told by players that they want more. We want to find out whether the passionate voices we hear on this topic are truly representative of entire community or just a vocal minority. If the vast majority of our players support of the campaign then we will restore these features to the game as quickly as possible.

Should the players vote in favour of the update, unrestricted trade will be reintroduced to the game granting all players the freedom to gift their wealth to their friends or trade items, without restrictions, with the wider RuneScape community. The Wilderness would also once again become the most dangerous area in RuneScape, where players fight to the death for wealth and glory. The Wilderness represents one of the most extreme risk-versus-reward combat systems of any MMO with players staking their armour, weapons and resources to defeat others and loot their remains. With numerous new features added to RuneScape over recent years including: summoning creatures, new curses, more powerful weaponry and armour, the new Wilderness would offer players even greater levels of variety and excitement to the fast paced, kill-or-be-killed environment.

The community petition, which will run until the 14th January 2011, is just the start of a series of celebration events and updates designed to mark RuneScapes 10th birthday and to thank the community for making RuneScape the global success story it is today. About RuneScape

RuneScape is the worlds most popular free-to-play MMO (as recognised by Guinness World Records), from multiple award-winning independent British development studio Jagex. Set in a richly detailed, medieval fantasy world of epic scale both geographically and historically, RuneScape proudly draws its inspiration from classic role-playing games to deliver a contemporary, innovative and original experience for millions of players across the globe as a fully featured free-to-play game, with a popular subscription option of even greater scale and ambition, both running directly within almost any computers browser.

Thanks to its class-free skill system and elective gameplay, there are no limits to the hero players can become, no quest you cannot complete and no requirement to collaborate with others or face them in player-versus-player combat unless you so choose. RuneScapes distinctive role-playing style rewards players who think strategically and play smartly. Its witty, intelligent tone, finely balanced gameplay, epic questing and myriad in-world diversions combine to create a game that has earned its place as the most popular free MMO game of all time and continues to push the boundaries of online role-playing as it enters its glorious tenth year.

About Jagex Just About the Game Experience

Jagex Games Studio is a multi-award winning games developer and publisher based in Cambridge, England. Jagex specialises in the development of high quality browser-based games and is the largest independent games developer and publisher in the UK.

Jagex has a long-standing reputation for creating the worlds best online games and for developing hugely popular, high quality, accessible, free-to-play games and for providing an unbeatable community experience for millions of players around the world. Jagex has developed and self-published over 40 online titles including the worlds most popular free online multiplayer game, RuneScape.

The main reason why people are saying 'no' right now is because we don't know exactly how they want to implement 'the good old days' of RuneScape back into the game. We can speculate, but they won't be removing everything, and I'm sure some things will be back in a slightly improved way; the 'blend' might turn out best for everyone. Certainly returning exactly back to how it was would hurt a lot of people who like the GE, who like to go into the wilderness with only Revs to worry about, and are familiar with the current system of item trading and pvp, etc.

The only problem I see now is the huge uproar that would occur if Jagex were to backtrack on what they've said (basically Yes to the old wildy and free trade coming back).

Why would Guinness have that article under "world records in the news" when jagex cleary stated in 15-16-179-62043182 that this is no record breaking event. I would [bleep]in die for this update but tis really sketchy.

v2vh5l.png

I bet you their are people using highscore user-name grabbers and entering them into the vote in a similar way to how they hacked using brute force, just a simple adaption to their programs.

Arzian.png

Thats all we can do now though, is speculate. Time will tell.

I just think that no matter what they will bring it back but the poll is for some type of record.
