Neos_Matrix
Strangly, no F2P Content. No surprise there, unless you count the new item slot. And loyalty program? Sounds like a trap.. Quyneax
Worried about the loyalty thing, quests are always good, D&D could be very good (then again it could be bad). FIREWORKS
Buying items for irl cash ? HELL MOTHER[bleep]ING [cabbage] NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jagex screwd up big time. Kingduffy
If the item slot is only cosmetic it's a massive update waste, and if everyone's loyalty starts on "0" from the update, I'm gonna be so pissed off. This is actually the worst BTS I've seen in a LONG time.
Stommel
I'm sure they'll clarify whether or not these are microtransactions soon (given the forums will probably be crazy). For all we know it could be a system based on how long you've been a 'loyal' member, and not involve extra payment Join "DGS" Guest Clan Chat for Dungeoneering Floors | Accepting all tipiters who are Willing to Learn

Wow usually i try to stay positive and don't go around screaming RUINEDSCAPE, but this time, ruinedscape might exactly be the case...They haven't said anything about IRL money being involved (yet), although this "loyalty program" sounds similar to the micropayment systems present in other MMOs. Hopefully we'll all be wrong about this, and Jagex will just require certain ingame achievements or something. /optimistic Interested in helping the Tip.It Crew? RobocopIsWin
I'm not going to call the Loyalty program as another Runescape-ending update...yet. I still #-o'd in real life though. Kind of a disappointing month overall. Quest cape first achieved September 20, 2010534/534 Tasks completed. lordkafei
More recently- Facebook update- A whole new way to introduce people to runescape, as well as making account security laughable. This also makes runescape come closer to a lot of games by companies such as zynga (spelling), that make crap like Farmville. This is most of all significant as games like these are based on things like FarmPoints, which you buy for real cash (J-Coins similarity). And now worst of all, we have the BTS promises not only to ruin the very ideals runescape was based on, that all items in the game should be got through hard work, and not based on real-life wealth. For those who do not have Facebook accounts: an explanation of Facebook Credits. Basically, you buy credits through Facebook and use them in various games / applications (Bejeweled Blitz is one). You can still play the game without the credits, but the credits let you buy bonus multipliers and badassed gems. FWIW, the Runescape console plays in a window almost exactly the same size as those Facebook games. Octarine
So much potential for them to mess up horribly here.. Obviously the Quest and D&D sound good, yay, but they'll definately be overshadowed by auras.. Assuming they end up charging irl money for them, if it were only the cosmetic ones that cost money (and the stat buffs all earnt ingame by dg tokens/w/e) then I think I could live with itEither way, if they charge extra money for anything ingame, its still ridiculously unfair EDIT: One reassuring thing I guess is their use of the word "Earn" loyalty points.. Maximusa
Disappointing. Building another part of the infrastructure for essentially buying ingame stuff with real money isnt good. Fact that they have seperated it kinda means they know people wouldnt like it if it effected rest of the game but by separating it and making it cosmetic then its more plausible they can do it. Ofcourse it completely changes the design of the game. I dont think they do it yet but its obviously all layed out quite nicely and they will make it unobvious. The biggest problem I have is how they setup the bts to make is sound like we want it. I honestly dont want to be talked to like that considering it wasnt generally originally written for morons but has slowly changed into that. C'mon. They put a snippit at the top that sounds cool and then release rest info later? Thats so morons can absorb it better. Its good PR. (Would worked better if updates inbetween were uber rather than average.) Youmu
Not gonna lie, this week's update is a massive disappointment to me. There just isn't any redeeming factors to me. I mean loyalty items? SirHartlar
If they introduce microtransactions, which I'm more against than for anyway, I'll be able to accept it more if they only allow cosmetic items to be bought with real money. It'll be interesting to see how it works either way, I'd like to think that their definition of a loyal player is a long time member as opposed to someone who is going to put money in their pocket in the short term. Askthedude
If this "Loyalty Program" turns out to be micro payments I'll probably be quitting as Jagex's attitude towards this game is going down hill at an alarming pace. Why can't the Big Bang be done by the hand of God?It could have, but it is next to impossible because it also could have been caused by the flying spaghetti monster, or one of the other infinite number of deity possibilities. Sy_Accursed
I've never heard them mention microtransactions. I have heard them say they do not want rl money to give an in-game advantage thou. Based off that and the mention of auras giving "buffs" I'm gonna hope the loyalty scheme is just some form of extension of the if u have members for over a yr the price goes down a bit thing. Some how combining time played, time as a member and in-game activities into points to buy these items Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
