Misunderstood Monsters: Wyverns and more!
Erichermit replied to Erichermit's topic in Archive of Wisdom
I wrote this guide back when Wyverns were only assigned be Chaeldar, and were so rare of a task it didn't matter, and nobody visited them anyway. Since the inclusion of Wyverns to Duradel's task list, many people skipped or did not how to go about killing Wyverns. This guide has proved very valuable to those people. Turoths back then were also very often skipped and hated, this was before the release of the leaf bladed sword, the release of which made them a much more acceptable task. The guide is a bit archaic since the release of that sword, but I see no reason to remove it. Terrorbirds are also still hated by the less knowledgeable of slayers, and hopefully gonpost's guide will educate them. I'm sorry you didn't appreciate your guide, and while I'm open to criticism, I don't think I picked bad monsters to write about. @Inuashakent and Master Smither: I like this debate a lot, personally, as I am still unsure as to whether bringing Karils is worth it. What I've gathered from other people's experience, however, is that Bandos Armor tends to be the best way to about killing them. To me it felt like I was better protected against their breath by the Karils top and barrows bottom combo vs. the Barrows Melee top and barrows melee bottom, but it could easily be due to luck and I admit I didn't really try the barrow melee top to get a good enough feel for it. Thanks for the bumps too by the way ;) --------------------------- Also, I'd like to take this chance to address some replies I forgot to read a while back. @romu000: You're very welcome, I'm always happy to find that people enjoy my guide =) @Eagle Tas: Yeah, I know my guide has a very "wall of text" feel to it, I'll to work on it more in the future. @pirate felix: The main problem I can see with that is that I can't wear full void down there though. Chaos Tunnels looks promising though. @ilovecardj: You have lots of good advice in there and I'll be sure to incorporate it when I revise the guide ever so slightly. I disagree with the no spec weapon though. @Natedoggygog: Yeah, I love that terrorbird guide too! =) I'm so happy Gonpost wrote and donated it. Goraks also are a good candidate, I believe. I remember a while back I killed one (for my first dragon drop too, a shield half) and found them pretty fun. Unfortunately Im not sure if half keys and gems are worth the effort they take, so testing will be neccesary. @Patson: There are lots of new safespots, but I haven't been in the Slayer Cave since the update. There are screenshots in the topic posted by other uses that show new safespots, however. @kent(again lol): You're very welcome. I feel pretty honored to have been able to be a help to a knowledgeable person such as yourself and be compared to Zarfot's guide. Thank You! @t3h: You lucky jerk! =P I killed 2500+ without earning a visage, so unfair! Oh well, Congratulations ;) -
Misunderstood Monsters: Wyverns and more!
Erichermit replied to Erichermit's topic in Archive of Wisdom
Thanks Perakp. I think it is magic based like dragon breath, but I also think that wearing magic protection gear is not going to help at all. My guide needs a lot of updates, I also am adding Cave Slime soon as well. However, As I mentioned previously, I am exceptionally busy lately. Every friday I have to go to a football game and every saturday is a marching contest (band), I have loads and loads of homework lately, and I have to worry about college application letters. I am, however, keeping track of everything I am being told here and will be sure to fix it all once everything evens out for me, and add the Cave Slime section. -
A better way to slay Dagannoths! ~Revamped!~
Erichermit replied to Lord_Shalaj's topic in General Guides
I recently completed a Daganoth task here, I was pleasantly surprised. Granted the slayer xp was probably lesser than what I could of earned at the lighthouse, I enjoyed the charms and the fun of it. Thank you for this! -
This seems most likely to me. It almost certainly is this. The armor etc. will also be made in game too so. I bet that the rewards from this minigame will be like, summoning seconds with which to make the minigame familiars, armor made in the minigame, etc.

I'm most excited for the new pvp worlds, simply because of the economic effect it will have =)

Defender Of Varrock - 29th September 2008
Erichermit replied to @Dan3HitU's topic in General Discussion
The zombies that I killed all seemed to drop charms pretty much every time, and a pretty even spread. I even got a blue charm in like.. 5 total kills. Also they're undead so a salve ammy works well. I think this might be a new great place to get charms. -
Vyrewatch Killing - Shades minigame extension
Erichermit replied to Tritous's topic in General Guides
I recently finished killing 500 vyrewatch, and while I did feel like I was not properly compensated for my efforts, It was fun and I'm considering going back to kill a few just for a bit of fun. Thanks a lot for this guide, it helped massively. I used full void melee to kill them and it seemed to work fairly well. Perhaps test it? -
Defender of Varrock - New Quest Released Today!
Erichermit replied to jirenma2001us's topic in General Discussion
JIrenma, you said a lot of interesting things there, but saying that Arrav wants to become an evil god seems pretty hard to believe =P. I have no doubt he wants to kill Zemoreagal and Zamorak though. He's currently forced against his will to serve Zemoreagal though. -
The main reason people don't use them is because they don't want to pay for potions too. If everybody uses potions, it's just as fair as if nobody uses potions. Since it's cheaper for everyone to not use potions, most people get angry when people break this "unwritten rule". Personally I see where this logic comes from, but also believe people are free to play as they want.

Fletching, Cooking, Firemaking: The Ultimate Race
Erichermit replied to Kietaro1's topic in General Discussion
The main reason nobody has accepted is probably because it would take a very long time to do this and most people aren't willing to take the drastic time expense on their own runescape account. -
Yeah. I agree with everything said above except the guy who said to use it on wyverns. I tested a cannon on wyverns and found it to be wildly inconveniencing and in fact, reduced the kills I got per trip, while simultaneously making it cost more.

This is great! Also, due to goldsmithing, I don't see gold bars rising.

I remember when R2H and P hat were both 200k... and I bought a R2H instead! >.< I also remember when bloods were 2k each. When I could finally theive from the blood chests, rs2 came out and the prices dropped.

i Agreed with you up until the last 2 paragraphs. Yes you must do some fun activites every now and then in choosing a group of thing your exp crashes pretty hard, if u do slayer for 5 tasks then go do 2 cw games you miss out on probably 1hr of slaying, even though each cw game is 20~ mins you also spend time in the bank "lolligagging" i beleive if you want something done you should go HARD on it for couple weeks then take a lil break(day or two) or just handle 2 things at once but on the same skill (Ex. If i wanted to achieve 91 rc you could harsh rc until you can't take it for another hr then go and get tablets for a couple hours, helps you in your goal but is away from what you were doing and somewhat fun. Another ex. is like bandits during weekdays and slay on weekends. I'm aware that switching around is very inefficient, but I can't bring myself to play this game and not enjoy it. I don't want anything that bad to hate it. Ever since I got 99 fishing/cooking I vowed to myself I'd never torture myself for a level anymore (unless perhaps a lower one for a quest.)
-
I bet there are more out there. And who knows what other monsters and rewards could be found in those areas? The Wraith is already a wonderful reward for the castle. I was thinking that maybe the Ring of Visibility may help located that stuff, but I doubt it.

To be honest I know a lot of what you mean. When I play for a while and my character isn't better for the time spent, I usually feel like I never got the chance to play or that I wasted my time. However, I also do not wish the game to become a chore. I like enjoying my time. Lately I've devised a plan to raise skills only 1 level at a time (I always choose my lowest level skill. Lately the pattern has been Hunter, Runecrafting, then Construction. Soon they will catch up to smithing, which will be incorporated. Prayer and Firemaking will soon follow.) I also like accomplishing things that don't even really matter. Like maxing out my Ivandis Flail. I had so much fun killing Vyrewatch I actually might just get my Firemaking/Prayer Levels cremating Shades / Vyrewatch. Temple Trekking is also a great way to have a varied fun time (random things each time) while earning a profit about about 300k an hour, which tbh isn't all that bad. Plus, Lumberjack clothes. I think the main thing to realize when grinding in RS for the feel of accomplishment is to keep it fresh. Try fishing in different places every now and then. Do a herb farming trip every 2 hours. Don't spend FOREVER doing one activity and instead choose a group of things to handle at once. I honestly thing that some of the basic things in RS are the most enjoyable. Granted when I want excitement I generally do a slayer task (which is also fun for the reasons above, Variation.) However, a nice skill offers the opportunity to talk to people, hang out in Forsakenmage CC (or whatever CC you enjoy most), and so on.

If I were you I'd be careful about mentioning this. It could cause a nerf. Edit: I just checked the construction table, you only get 223 xp per magic tree.

The Wraith cause people to fight one another
Erichermit replied to Wkw's topic in General Discussion
I think the solution to this should be to make the wraith require a slayer level. -
So, what do you guys think the droprate is on elixir and spirit shields? I'm hearing 1/450 for elixir and 1/100 for shields, but I think people tend to say things are more common than they are.

What is better: New Skills or Upgraded Ones+Level Cap
Erichermit replied to Dire_Wolf's topic in General Discussion
I personally prefer to see new things added to old skills. -
Leaf-Bladed Swords with a use at Corporal Beast?
Erichermit replied to ghjkl's topic in General Discussion
I went and bought two swords (theyre only like 50k anyway). Thanks for sharing with us! -
I personally never enjoyed the ridiculous endless treks for useless items. I love the GE. If you don't want to buy it and feel like gathering it yourself is fun, you're more than free to do so.
-
Shared. I want str xp but I don't want to be forced to use an inferior weapon to slow down my slayer exp. And Im not dishing out for a saradomin sword.
-
Just make sure your pride doesn't include looking down on others and the pride is good.
-
There is. I'm proud of my fishing cape. Because people are impressed? No. I actually don't care if people are impressed. I'm proud of my cape because Im happy to have made that acheivement. There's nothing wrong with taking pride in your accomplishments of this game. That's what makes it fun. What is wrong is thinking you're better than someone else, bragging, or expecting insta-respect for it. I implore you take pride in everything you do in Runescape, whether it's buying a steel scimitar or buying a Saradomin Godsword. Which are just pixels.
