  1. I see some people mentioning shutting down the rants section on the RSOF? You do realise that while half of the posts in there would indeed simply never have existed, the other half would've randomly dumped over the various other forums. Just see it as some sort of trash can. There's no need to actually go in there and read stuff. Unless you're obsessed with sifting though trash? :P
  2. I only used RuneHQ a few times when Tip.It hadn't quite finished up it's Treasure Trials guide. Other than that, I don't really like it. The site reminds me of my desktop. Yes, my desktop's a mess :-w Just messing :) all I mean is that the site's indeed a bit cluttered up and not easy on the eyes. As for as actual content goes, I find ours to be more than accurate and complete enough, so I don't really have much of a reason to visit there.
  3. Yeah, you hit 71 and it states 69, that sure is 5 or 6 higher :( Anyway, honest, we're trying. It's just that the "magic max hit formula" was cooked up by people who worked for or with this site some years ago, and I don't even know where they got it from. We get plenty of reports about values being a bit too high, and just about as much as them being a bit too low, with no apparent pattern, either. So unless the folks at Jagex decide to spill the beans on their max hit formula, there's not much we can do. That being said, the "it's not perfect" message could use some updating :P it's obviously not just higher values that's returned.
  4. Y'know, the entire story seems a bit far-fetched to me. First he comes and begs for freebies for his birthday, and then he goes and makes up that story in order to still get some items out of his rich "friend". Seems like the most likely explanation. Personally, I would've told him a story among the lines of how getting some items on RS won't do much to ease his pain, and that he could instead motivate himself to try and reach whatever RS goal he has in mind in order to escape reality for a bit, which is far more satisfying anyway. He might learn something from that, regardless of his story being true or not. But it's no doubt just a scam. So yeah, nobody likes him he says. Not surprised if he tries to screw over people in RL too. So, that far is too far, I'm afraid.
  5. The picture was probably taken by a Jmod who didn't bother turning it off :P
  6. They're just trying to improve the game. The auction house thingy makes life a bit easier.
  7. There's a bunch in the Varrock sewers. Why the hurry?
  8. And as long as Runescape's a fun and (mentally) relaxing activity to you, it's all good. However, if you find yourself staying up late because you just HAVE TO get a certain level, it might be time to take a step back. Most people play Runescape, or other games, as an escape from reality, and to prevent them from going insane. So what if there's no RS. They'll find another escape :
  9. A fair bit of WoW, the occasional oldy on my SNES (like the Mario World games, Donkey Kong Country, etc) and every so often I pick up a game for the Wii. With me being a big fan of Metroid Prime, I'm currently working on beating the third part of the series. It's quite good. On the PC, I hardly play anything but WoW and 'Scape. Last singleplayer game I've actually completed would be Serious Sam 2, which is like two years old by now?
  10. Just to chip in, I think that there's FAR more masks and santas around compared to phats. Y'know, when phats were being dropped, most people were like "ooh that nice", and heck, some even cared more for the secondary gifts in the crackers. I'm guessing only few stockpiled them, and even less people imagined how much they'd be worth after a few years. Possibly some people with experience from previous mmo's did a bit of stockpiling, even such a thing even exists in other games. As far as I know, there's no such thing in WoW, for example. However, once the masks and santas came along, phats had already risen in price considerably, and Runescape's playerbase was quite a bit larger as well. So more people specifically collected masks and santas for the sole purpose of makings moneyz, and I doubt that even ye party hat dupe of old had much of an impact at this. Still, guestimating numbers is a bit tough. All I know is that I at least contribute with a single semi-active hat \
  11. Problem is that, for the somewhat more complicated updates (ie, updates other than "Added a new fun quest with rewards that don't have a big effect" or "fixed such and such bug"), you'll have many many players each with their own opinion. Some will like it, some won't, and they'll always find something to whine and nag about. Frankly, Scape's in the boat as any MMO seems to be. It's no different for World of Warcraft, for example. People whine about the most trivial things. For example, in some patch, Orc shoulder-armor size was decreased (which was unintended). Countless forum posts on the subject. The next patch, the problem was rectified. And lo: "Ffs Blizz orc shoulder r 2 big!!!". Right : Still, gaining some insight into the decisions the folks at Jagex make would be a nice plus, as well as pretty educational for aspiring game designers, possibly.
  12. Well, actually proving it would be tough, but with a huuuuge sample size for both regular and ring-of-wealth powered drops, one would be able to make a statement on whether it works or not with a high propability of said statement being true. Then again, getting a huuuuuge sample size would be an awful lot of work :P
  13. My Fire Cape. I think it's pwetty : But I'm not exactly reckless with it, if I'm going some place dangerous, in the bank it goes. Doing that two hour cave marathon once was bad enough :P
  14. Might as well just wish for a truckload of bones, would save you the hassle of having to buy 'm all :P As for me, not sure. Fact is that I love maging / ranging at CWars, etc, but supplies of arrows and runes sadly deplete very fast when doing so. So, nearly limitless ammo would be nice :
  15. 1 - Ask them to try and settle their differences like grown-ups, or at least take their swearing to a private convo. Also, if any of them's spewing racist remarks, mute. 2. Ignore the hell out of him. 3. Mute O:)
  16. Don't worry about it too much, it's been confirmed that some of the changes were in fact bugs, with the main bug being Death Blast not draining life at all. Surely, the Tentacles actually using their Mindflay once more is intended. With the Tentacles just hanging around doing nothing, Shartuul seriously was too easy (and a bit boring). But having a bunch of Tentacles hammering you without being able to heal up efficiently's a real pain. But I doubt that they'll issue a hotfix simply for this one event, so I guess we'll have to wait a bit.
  17. If anyone happens to read this and feels like "zomg I need teh antivirus liek now" I'd recommend you check out AVG Antivirus (google it, I'm lazy). It's a decent anti-virus program, and doesn't cost a thing. From the description, you have to actually open a file to get infected, so it shouldn't be particulary hard to avoid it or anything.
  18. Could somebody post a picture of the rightclick menu of a "grimy herb"? :) (Edit: nvm, Taito edited it in)
  19. I honestly don't remember at all. I reckon it's either the coin at the bottom of me pile of gold, or something silly like a hammer or a tinderbox, or possibly a basic rune.
  20. I suppose that's true. Regardless, Lightning, I'm sorry to see you go but I wish you the best of luck :)
  21. Just the 4 combat skills, ranged and firemaking for me. At least, I don't think there's anything I can't do with respect to those skills :
  22. I'd have to agree with this. But, if you'd try and slap a name out of me anyway, I'd stick with Omega Pure :)
  23. Just think of it as a try-out thingy for the moment. I'm sure there'll be some word from the folks higher-up on this sometime soon :) Edit: darn that guy above me :
