This is a stunt; it's let me vote multiple times, both logged in and not logged in.

Pretty sure it's set in stone it's coming back, they wouldn't tease us like this. Think they just want to see how dedicated people are to brining it back. But f yeah.

How dedicated, or how misled people can get?

I'm sure at least 30% of the votes are people who were thinking there would be a "no" option.

I'm sure at least 78.8% of the people reading this will agree with me that you're just making up statistics.

Where was that post?

Also can someone tell me how to use hide tags?

Edited by lotmein2

And I was expecting nothing but cries of joy in this thread. I'm glad, of course, that we're looking at this from a logical perspective, but the lack of enthusiasm surprises me.

It's just that tip.it argued about this for a long time, and finally came to the consensus that Jagex was right to remove free trade three years ago. It took at least 6 months to sort it out.

We can't suddenly start arguing the opposite without knowing a lot more about what's changed than we do. We want to know the exact reasons why this won't destroy Jagex's business model because of credit card fraud, because it was commonly thought that bot-detecting technologies can never beat bot makers. A technology that can beat the bot makers without ceasing player to player interaction completely sounds like something mythical and completely impossible. I believe Andrew said this himself.

EDIT: Y'know Jagex, a Dev Blog about this wouldn't go amiss.

They will NEVER be able to stop bots. Even I can make a fairly hard to detect bot. And it's not that because I am .. you know .. better then them, It's because it's easier to make a bot than to prove that the person is using one.

Found this. NOTE: MAY BE A FAKE

FAKE, check upper right corner, not logged in, you can't see pmod forums if you are not logged in lol

It is fake, one item protected but has to be over 500k thats ridiculous.

Also can someone tell me how to use hide tags?

["hide=text here"] ["/hide"] take out the " and you're set.

I don't have the QFC, maybe someone else can help you with that.

There's something really fishy about this that I don't like, but I can't put my finger on it. Oh well, I voted anyways. Bring back free trade!

This "vote" is the biggest marketing scheme ever. Whether you vote or not, it won't matter at all. From Mod Mark's statements it seems they had this thing planned out long ago and the "vote" is just a publicity stunt. By Jan 14th, there will be a newspost saying what huge response there were and how Jagex listens to the players. To me, Jan 14th sounds like the update release date than anything else.

Having free trade and wildy back is nice, but this is a complete green light for RWT and botting. O hooray back to days of 20 gold farmers on a green dragon/yew tree. Jagex is just getting more tolerant of cheaters than ever...

Its too late; at this point if old wildy and free trade returns it can only do more harm than good

[spoiler=Other Quotes]tbh idk why this makes me laugh so hard

All DFS threads turn into efficiency flame wars >.>

>OP asks "why use DFS?"

>everyone says "there is no reason"

>someone says "stop bashing people who use DFS, efficiency troll ass clown"

>thread is now a flame fest

since i cba to read all 30 w/e pages of this thread to see if any1 asked / said it before..

what do u guys think will happen to manipulating clans? will they be eliminated by free trade? or will they still survive the update?

I like getting hard when I PK

Dunno if it's real or not. But if it is real and the old 'thing' would come back, I'd play again.

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

Explain?

They'll be eliminated, so long as the GE has its restrictions lifted too, and just applies a 'recommended price'.

Am I the only one that could care less about RWT and botters? I would rather have a fun game that I can enjoy without so many restrictions. If some kid wants to spend his money on buying gp with physical currency, I say let him waste his money (or hers for that matter). If he wants to bot all his levels, I say let him. Neither of those gives any sort of gratification that attaining levels in an honest manner would. I am indifferent to bots and gold farmers and am willing to put them back in the game if I can play Runescape the way it was MEANT to be played.

I think I smell an opinion. :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame:

Might be a little late in the argument, but I've been working on a picture for awhile to show how easily things can be faked:

I think I did a better job then those other fakes, but yeah, just helping to prove a point that those pictures are fake and how easily they can be.

Edit: 2 glitches in my picture <_<

One point I made on the pictures is why Jagex would message other jagex members on the forums?

We actually do not know how much damage could be done by bringing back free trade. We do know that it will do some damage at least however. We know it will have a massive impact on the economy, we also know there will be massive upheaval in playing styles for many. There could also be bugs occurring in such a large update which would effect such a large part of the game, and there would probably be frustration at the limits. Thinking that the game would revert to the exact same place as it was 3 years ago with no disruption is naive. It will do damage.

What has come to my mind is an adverse one to those who have argued with others who do not want to the update because they didn't PK at the time. For years now, those who raged at the update have proclaimed how much better the game was and how much they want it back. They have looked back through rose tinted glasses (because the game was by no means perfect). This could also have impacted on those who have since made accounts and who also did not PK. To them, the past may sound better, making them vote yes. However, they do not know better. For all they know, they could hate how the game turns out if there is an update. Are their votes just as invalid as people who don't want the update in this situation?

Big thanks to Stevepole for the signature!^

I quit when they introduced the current trade system, and havn't played since,

Havn't even come to this forum in 2 years.

Weird I should come and have a look with this going on, and i'd probably play again if the old systems were implemented.

Voted yes. Good to see that there are over 1.1million yessses.

they said, maybe not even 1 million, but we're well past that, and 1.1 million players shows just how many users are not completly satisfied.

Instead of being negative nellys

Lets look at a pro of old-wilderness

Economic

Though it may pose problems at first, the old-style wilderness won't create any inflation. When you kill someone, your drop (wealth) isn't generated into the game, it is simply transferred. When you kill someone today, you can easily get 500k from someone who has only 300k. That's an unneeded 200k into the economy.

Yeah, I forgot about that one. And also, items like claws and other armor should drop in price because they are dropped rather than destroyed.

Will be nice to see claws and other expensive items in drop piles instead of "Lool gf claws, gf bandos".

Just by making this bogus vote, they have declared that they lost the war on bots and RWT. From this point on, I fully expect RS to be considered from outsiders to be a botter's paradise.

I've been backing up Jagex for the last 3 years saying how they were right for fighting RWTers, gold farmers and botters at large only to have them admit defeat...

I am really disapointed in Jagex, I'm happy for my fellow friends who will enjoy original pking, but if it means I'll have to battle with more and more bots, it will definitely end my participation in this game,

Amen.

What I find more distressing is how people can (and already have) used MY username to vote for something WITHOUT my consent. I am thoroughly, thoroughly pissed about it.

Maybe I can find a legal footnote to get the entire petition voided, can anyone check whether you can actually press charges against these kinds of petitions? :D

My single entity sadly doesn't have as much an impact as that of a large group whose collective IQ is comparable to what's found in a household fishtank.

That's why I have legal rights to fall back on.
