If so, focus on those more than a phrase. Yep, I like the update, this stupidity just irks me to no end. Plus, the poison effect isn't linked to her saying this... I think. Just a very specific form of virus. And there's really nothing wrong with it at all...it's a single phrase... A virus is different from a poison, really, in physiological turms it's like saying... "Let the fire freeze you!" just to try and sound cool. If you think about it, not really. A poison is something that tends to destroy, or deteriorate health. A virus, such as a computer virus, is essentially the same thing. It's goal is to deteriorate the "health" of your computer, by replicating itself over and over, gathering information it can, and ultimately harming your computer. You can't look at things in a narrow scope. You need to connect dots some times. Yes, lets "connect the dots" to make anything added fit the context of the game. Poison on the other hand is much more general in that it's a substance that disturbs biological functions, but usually on a molecular rather than cellular level. This is getting very off-topic though, and I do think that the latin origin of virus meaning (Roughly) poison does help to bridge the gap of meaning in this context. Besides, it's not like rs is known for its realistic ways to solve poisoning, I mean we have 1 generic cure for EVERY poison (Not including 'disease') in the game. OT: Yeah, Torva isn't gonna replace my bandos anytime soon. Not a big fan of degrading armor (The reason I got bandos in the first place), it has the same str boost, and it's not like I need the extra lp or def while slaying. wise woman/man.... also bandos is still one of the best armours... i only want the new armour ro show off not to use it, lol That's exactly the reason I bought bandos when it crashed (I bought it at it's lowest point, unintentionally, that just happened to be when I got on and bought it). But the Torva armor'sextra lp boost and defence does open more doors like easier monster hunting, massive pking, and the like. But you shouldn'toverlook the benefits of Torva armor regardless if it degrades. The special no longer has all 4 hits appear at the same time. The last 2 (smallest hits) have a lengthy delay after the first 2 hits now. I'm not sure if this is the same for PVP. Also Niffin your deconstruction of my point is epically flawed.I simply said its not a huge leap as they are both taken in in some way and then both cause detriment to health. I'm sure the broader dictionary definitions of virus would allow poison to come under it as an umbrella term.This point was obv in relation to the fact of the Latin virus = poison etc as covered in other posts. Also your point only holds true of chemical poisoning; what about biological poisoning that can be injected/enter into the blood and infect just the same way as a viral cold you might catch. I'm not saying its a perfect phrase or w/e; just that its hardly "connect the dots" as it does have easy ways to link it in rough terms. Edit: ah didn't know it wasn't attached to poison attack; in tht respect I see your point more; though if its attached to a state drain it still makes some sense. Afterall viral colds make you feel weak and drained, rs equivilant wuld be a literal draining of skills to weakened you. I saw the inscription on the wall, it's just a huge stretch, considering that many (most I think) English words have Latin roots, it's easy to make that stretch. However, even then if Nex knew Latin what is the point in having the rest of what she says be in English with one Latin word. Also, even then it's incorrect as it doesn't have a poison effect when she says that (it stat drains, again correct me if I'm wrong). Nope, Jagex stupidity is a much likelier explanation. I am more inclined to believe they just want to sound cool then that they are actually making a conscious allusion to Latin. If you really want I can spam up RSOF looking for a J Mod response, but it seems like that would be a waste of time. Lep Posted January 10, 2011 Share Posted January 10, 2011 So you get 544 stab defense & almost the same slash defense with the best possible gear and a steel titan. You also get 20% melee absorb if using the chaotic kiteshield (though people would likely use the DFS for it's strength bonus) and you get the same strength bonus as bandos. So best defense in entire game, best absorb in entire game (with spirit shields) and best damage in entire game. Oh yeah, you get 400 more life too. Not like that matters or anything /sarcasm. To top if off, it's harder than corp and requires more to time and effort to kill than corp. And I thought divine and elysian were expensive at 1 billion street. Even 3rd age is impossible to buy still, and it sucks, it's just rare. God knows what these will be worth. The banker is behind the killcount door; hence the kb news post etc all refer to having a cool off area after u get beyond kill count door and before the boss. As I said earlier in this thread, for the majority, especially in PVP, this armour may as well not exist. If they want life point boosting armour to actually have an effect, add it to all existing armours, much like damage soaking or bring various sets ranging from low to high level. Also, as I'm currently F2P, can anybody post some of the lore which the banker explains? Want to be my friend? Although frustrating, I loved progress raiding in wow. Figuring out tactics is very exciting! But I wouldn't do it here. Could quickly cost you a lot of gear/money.
