16-May-2011 - The Ultimate Skilling Prowess Challenges of Win
LitterBug replied to Albel's topic in General Discussion
eeeh... you couldn't be any more wrong. Only one of the challenges is really about efficiency(most average xp an hour) but that is ruined not being able to use reasonable xp boost items and a bag of tricks some may resort to using. Can you not use effigies? What exactly is a 'reasonable xp boost" exactly? -
I saw that tip on runewiki as well, does anybody know for definite if cm with cannon is better then cr with cannon on slayer tasks. well, the cannon's hit rate depends only on the accuracy of the weapon you're using. the higher the accuracy - the more often it hits
-
you probably wouldn't be to well off doing the alternatives. for now, just do all your slayer tasks - try not to skip anything but the most unbearable ones while you save up money. a slayer task should take about an hour - try to dg a small or two to get used to DG-ing and farm a bit inbetween. if you want, you can just dg (by yourself if you can't do larges and just get faster/better while doing farm runes every hour or so)

Misconception. Chaotics do not degrade faster in multicombat. OT: Use Rapier on everything except monsters that have more of a sensitivity to a certain atk style. Misconcetption you say? So I was just seeing things when my rapier lost over 16% of its charges after being at CT Dagganoths for a bit less than an hour? Edit: Just noticed you don't even have 80 dungeoneering yet, and you're talking like you have a chaotic... This. Chaotics do decay faster when you're using them in multi combat. I'm pretty sure they decay per hit taken/dealt

I used to think like that - go do something with a high drop rate and a low combat level. However, it's a pretty bad idea - don't focus so much on summoning at the moment. One thing you can do is bring a bunch of prayer potions and go familiarization before going to water fiends. Since you can only do this once a week - I suggest start training your other skills. You can start working on skills needed to unlock some of the achievement diary awards while farming ever hour or so for the money.

I was just curious about this. If you do the Elite TT - do you only get the items offered by Elite + some guaranteed ones? Or can you get stuff from Easy/Normal/Hard as well? (I.e god book pages/ranger boots/etc)

I remember there being calculations done on Ardy Cape Vs. Fire Cape on a dragons (steel - I believe? Not 100% sure anymore) If you look at the difference - it's 5 stab for 4 strength and the fire cape was slightly (not by much) better. However, if you look at the difference between fury and the strength amulet - there's a difference of 9 in attack (accuracy bonus) compared to 2 in strength - as well as a few other skills i.e pray, defensive, summoning. Just from comparison, it seems that the fury > the strength amulet. It's pretty hard to get a 100% decision - since both the defense roll of the monster has to be taken into account as well as the accuracy of the DPS formulas. I think it would just be better if these combat mechanics were made more transparent. Either way, that >12.5 mil difference in price has to account for something right? :/

If you're going to level up summoning - might as well get it to 71. You get the invisible boost from the Artic Bear. (If you're not going to use the fruit bat) http://[use Quick Find Code]/[Please Use QuickFind Code]?14,15,852,62777931 Apparently you get ~700ish spikes an hour I don't know legitimate that estimate is since he's just guessing. It still makes the most sense to just start farming (it's really not that hard just a little bit tedious) and get ready for HH.

:/ A lot of the time - google may not provide the correct answer. Even on forums like Tip.It - there are a lot of mistake in random guides that I've read. This is not to say that people shouldn't use google - this forum would have 1/10th as many posts if everybody tried to answered their own questions first. However, it's not so bad if you already know all the information beforehand.

Considering 70 - 80 Construction is approximately 1.25 m exp and each hammer lasts for approximately 50k exp (25k original + 25k bonus) , you would need about 25 hammers.
-
why not just cook the chicken? SAVE HALF THE TIME.
-
For 2.) it's not feasible - considering you need the papayas for the raw pawya meat. It's smarter just to use the fruit bat scroll when needed and let the spikes stack up instead of having to bank every inventory

It's just something fun that people do. It's the same reason why people camp easy monsters that wouldn't kill them (i.e what you power train on) as opposed to fighting some higher leveled monster. Pk-ing is pk-ing, and whether 20 people killed you or 1 - you still died. When I pk-ed, I most certainly did it for fun and not the money. I might sound like a total [cabbage] but it's funny to see people freak out once in a while. In any case - it is the "wilderness" and you should expect to die at some point. It'd be foolish to think otherwise. -
Grats! Did you use a cannon for your tasks? That's a lot of birds nests :o
-
The OP only has two skills he can open effigies with - cooking and summoning so I don't think it'll make that much of a different to him.

don't you get a plus +3 atk bonus if you were training on the accurate style? If you ABSOLUTELY are picky about efficient - I'm pretty sure that the +3 atk will be better then the +3 def offered by the defensive style. Unless you're getting plummeled so much more which I highly doubt. Like everybody said though - if you're going to DG, why not get 90 def? You get access to a platebody (although, there are plenty of better binds) WhatisthisIdonteven... If dg you wont be using anything but the aggressive option for the+ 3 str bonus and the berserker ring. Did you even read my post? Yes, and I don't see the point you're trying to make now. Outside of DG - the OP would be on either the atk or def stance. I'm saying atk > def since he is looking for the best method I was addressing the fact that people suggested leveling his defense up to 90 so he could have a better plate bind. All I'm saying is that - the plate bind might be helpful but you drop it as soon as you get a SSH. Which isn't all that rare (in my experience at least)

this is impossible to tell. it's not like general monsters use prayer/magic/etc some npcs have different "weapons" (check fire giants?/zombies/etc) if they have different combat levels - they *may* hit more/less often but generally, a fire giant with a club wouldn't do more damage then one without

Wielding Battleaxes and Longswords with two hands
LitterBug replied to Dire_Wolf's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I don't really see the use of it. Nobody ever uses a shield for defense really (except for a minute few that use Ely/Divine/etc and a handful of botters) The game mechanics are kind of messed up that way - there's no real alternative to a chaotic / ddef for tasks or a cmaul. -
Jayson - sent you a pm

If you want to do clue scrolls - I believe it's best to do easy/normal ones for a chance at the unholy book pages/robin hoot hat/ranger gear You can get these super easily by killing men in edgeville or pickpocketing H.A.M members
-
Oh sweet, I never thought about this. However, I seem to have a problem turning it on a little bit too early :(

FrollTace Actually prayer potions are pretty good for conserving food. If you are decently good at pray switching and you don't have a laggy computer - you can effectively *almost* pray melee/magic/range without losing many prayer points. This is probably better then buying food anyways unless you want to just afk or not pay much attention. Pray flashing is pretty essential later on to be a "good" player (for Jad/DG/Bosses with multi-styles/etc) so why not take a chance and learn how to now? That and prayer potions are extremely cheap at the moment.

I recently got extremes and I can tell that my slayer tasks did go a lot faster. I spent a good amount on cannonballs - so I've been using my cannon on any and every task that would allow for it. I found out that for most of these tasks - a bunyip is useless (one of the three useful pouches you would unlock - the others being spirit terrorbird & war tortoise) since you're either in multi combat or the monsters just do too much damage. However, bringing a bunyip or two can help you finish fire giant tasks/etc without banking but that's the only task I've gotten lately and didn't skip that a higher summoning level would be beneficial. I also have a macaw and a herbicide for abberant spectre tasks but the exp gained via this method is almost nothing. I only do it since I can spare the extra two spots in my inventory.

If you were to only use crimson charms, you can use this: http://users.telenet.be/glodenox/Charms/CharmPattern.html However, at lower levels - I would highly suggest using gold/green charms as you get them. They're not majorly expensive and the secondaries cost next to nothing. I'll tell you how I leveled my summoning (I just bank the charms until I get enough to get to a specific level before leveling) From: >41 - Macaw (Green) >43 - Spirit Cockatrice (Green) >46 - Pyrelord (Crimson) >47 - Magpie (Green) >48 - Bloated Leech (Crimson) >52 - Spirit Terrorbirds (Gold) When I hunted - I didn't get enough gold so I used crimsons as well If you anticipate training summoning - start a few days ahead and buy the raw bird meat from Oo'long >56 - Ilbis (Green) >61 - Smoke Devil (Crimson) >64 - Strange Plant (Crimson) >66 - Barker Toads (Gold) >68 - Bunyip (Green) From then, I've only been leveling summoning through lamps, etc
