Dying in RuneScape will become slightly less painful later this month as we introduce the concept of Limbo. If you die in any unsafe, non-PVP area, you will be prompted to choose which items you retain (following the existing rules for how many items you keep on death); also, certain types of items will always be kept on death most notably coins, but also most quest-specific items and common, low-value items such as tinderboxes, fishing rods and the like.

Really why make it even LESS bad to die? It is already amazingly stupid if you die, and you can get 99% of the time back in time with ease.. (And the other 1% you often go with teams)

 

It always makes me laugh at the rage when Jagex change death mechanics. For a forum that constantly makes comparisons between Rs and WoW why doesn't anyone make mention of the fact that you lose nothing when you die in WoW?

 

Also, the only people this really affects are lurers, I'll never understand why people want to lose all their stuff on death, unless you like to self harm.

We could completely remove death all along if that's what you'd like, there'd be no "self harm" then.

 

There's supposed to be a sense of risk, but there just isn't anymore.

This change doesn't work in the wilderness.

I find Lunar update nice, as for the Items kept on death it seems ok, not sure if it was needed though. The Prince willian and Kate [cabbage] is just [cabbage]. Nothing big for me to look forward in updates.

because the fact you DID loose everything, and the fact you lost everything made the game have it's perfect mechanics (where expensive items weren't always required, as it was just too tricky).. I hoped that would come with free trade too.. But sadly they don't see many (from my friends, about half the people who played rs played rs for that reason) people like THAT.

Good job Jagex, you almost had me with that "serious BTS coming later today" part. Still, you ain't getting me.

 

Terrible goddamn month, might as well stop updating RS if they really don't give a damn.

 

Before one of you brainless bores comes here and tells me to stop complaining, here is a short list of things wrong with this (potential) update:

 

• Vengeance Other (another spell that will sway it all towards the elite players since it'll probably require like 97 magic, plus Veng was cheesy enough as it is)
  
• That spell which lets you repair RC pouches (not bad in itself, but we already have a spell for that, and contacting the dark mage to repair your pouches is much funner than casting a stupid spell)
  
• Death update (why make the game even LESS dangerous? This game needs to be harder, not easier, idiotic monkeys. Also, now I can walk around with all my money outside of the Wilderness and not give a damn, herp derp! Is that what you want it to be? Next update: god mode switch.)
  
• The royal wedding thingy (nobody cares about your stupid prince)

Perhaps because the monarchy is a massive part of the British national identity and it is a massive deal for the 2nd in line to the throne to be getting married and it gives an extra bank holiday.

So what happens if you die because of a DC than...? Just the normal way? I'd prefer a system where you can preset what you keep than "limbo"...

So you'll keep the Fury/BCP/etc you'd lose otherwise.

Looks like a really really good month to me. The clan updates especially - voting + private forums will be very useful. Hopefully the new lunar spells will come with a quick way of getting to moonclan?

 

However the whole new death mechanic is insane. I swear people there's a video on youtube of someone getting to their grave at Bandos in 3 minutes? Seems a bit crazy reducing the risk even more after 15 minute graves.

 

Some people are quite negative on this forum.. Is it really that big a deal? Perhaps the new death mechanic is slightly illogical, but it's not going to reduce enjoyment of the game is it? Same goes for the royal wedding thing.. it's important to people in the UK, I seem to remember there being a thanksgiving event recently which didn't get torn to pieces.

O so basically this update sucks because now you always lose chaotics....Been asking for an update to this for years by many people and of course Jagex goes and [bleep]s it up...

Actually, 97.5% of RS cares about those things.

Or, when you die by DCing, you go to the limbo when you relog, and only after you exit does the gravemarker start. That'd actually be more fair towards people with crappy connections.

I don't really mind any of the updates, but nothing says 'go do this, you'll love it'. Give me Elemental Workshop 5 and 6 already.
