My mother put her credit card on iTunes, and allowed me to purchase a few songs. Well, over the course of a month, usually sneaking down at night, I'd purchase a song or two. This would lead to me purchasing another song, and another, and often entire albums, because I didn't think I'd have to pay for it. Well, come next month, I'm faced with a $2000 bill that I had to pay off. Long story short, it is a legitimate concern that children will blow their parents' money on spins. itunes its a given that they have unlimited ability to buy shit but runescape was a surprise. April 3, 201214 yr I think there might be a problem that when you subscribe by CC, they don't tell you that you can be charged up to $200 a day without needing to enter any details (because they even remember the security code on the back). I'm not sure that's really illegal, but that's really slimy and underhanded. Unless they do mention this now (If I resubscribe, it will be at the end of the month). As for being hijacked, the only way a law suit could ever work is if it was Jagex's fault that the account got hijacked, which does happen (when they give the account to someone through the recovery system), but its not the main way people lose accounts. Also remember that Jagex has a million dollar legal team, so unless its class action lawsuit against them, there is no way anyone could really afford to sue them (go justice system). I also feel like the whole reason they have been clearing out the botters so hard is to allow this work. It will never get as much money as it could as long as bots are an option. Since this primarily allows for semi-predictable xp gains, this and casula botters are in direct competition. Or perhaps I have it backwards, and this is a twisted anti-bot/rwt measure by allowing a rule abiding alternative.
April 3, 201214 yr WHO CARES. How does it effect you if somebody raises their skills by spending way to much money? It doesn't, stop complaining. If they release something that gives an actual advantage to players against other players, that is when you should get mad.They determine the levels for content based on average player level, so if the bar rises above your head, you're shit out of luck. :D Well, this is my second account, and it is not very hard to get to max levels in each skill the traditional way. The way I see it, how other people level their skills has no bearing on me in the least bit. If an update is too high for me to participate in, it is more encouraging to get the levels to me. I do not mind waiting a little bit to play new content. I think that is my whole point here, this doesn't get people 'ahead' at all, because of the way runescape is. The ONLY thing I see wrong is if a new skill is implemented, for people that are trying to get 99 first. But we will cross that bridge when we get to it. (Again, this does not effect me at all, but I can see how it would effect others.) There are already SO MANY maxxed players, a few people spending thousands of dollars to further fund runescape to get maxxed, has no effect on the game at all. There are far to little players that will actually participate in this to have any bearing on the economy, which would be the only other concern.

In South Korea the government is looking into whether or not these systems constitute gambling, and thus fall under the country's ban on gambling. I'm not sure how many customers Jagex has out of Sotuh Korea but they stand to lose them.

Whatever is "in spirit" of Runescape - i have completely lost appeal for it. And i am member the past two months because of a other interest that doesn't have to do with Runescape gameplay other than i am using the game economy for what i want to do. April 3, 201214 yr South Korea is already looking at this? They actually consider it that important and got on it already? If so, that was fast. I've also seen suggestions that they might have overlooked Dutch Law, which if they were to rule this as gambling would cause the game to be outlawed in the Netherlands as well. Jages does have lawyers, but its not always possible to predict what the rulings will be. I'm sure they did consider this stuff ahead of time though (since that is their job). Countries banning RuneScape on the grounds of gambling is probably the best hope to have the update overturned, so everyone wish for that :lol:
