Just deleted my credit card details, I just had to set up a new bank account for other reasons I don't need security problems now. I'll still keep playing, but I may change my mind depending on how much the game changes from here.

I just realised that Bill Gates needs to save money for 0,75 seconds long to be able to get 200m in all skills.

I just realised that Bill Gates needs to save money for 0,75 seconds long to be able to get 200m in all skills.

If he couldn't use his money he already had saved.

Me and the wise old man go way back.... he was a foolish boy back then.

My crystal armour idea.

I dont use twitter etc but I hope people are spreading this security travesty like wildfire and make sure it gets remembered.

I'd just like to say that although I don't approve of this update, the real harm is probably minimal. To level a skill from 80-99 using squeal costs ~$2,000 USD. The super-rare items are also untradeable, and well, super-rare (probably something like 1/1000 if not rarer). Unless someone has thousands of dollars lying around to spend on Runescape (which I somehow doubt), there will be no noticeable "unfair" inflation in either hiscore ranks or wealth from anyone. At most, people will buy some spins just to try it out, and once they find out the reward/$ ratio isn't what they hoped to be, it will just be business as usual.

Besides, knowing Jagex they will probably put the money to good use. The CEO mentioned that they wanted to get off the outdated Java platform, onto something more efficient, powerful and portable, and the money could very well be going towards that.

just as soon as you've said this, you have invoked murphy's wrath

You have to go and 'buy membership'. Pretend you're resubscribing and say you're paying by card. I'll come up with your saved card details and there should be a link to manage your cards, you can remove it from there.

Thanks, that worked indeed. I had cancelled my membership, but hadn't removed my card as I wasn't aware it was stored elsewhere as well.

scary thought, scary thought. What happens when your account goes ftp? Can you still buy spins from the wheel?? And if you can does that mean your credit card info is still saved on that account even though you never touched it in months ?!?

If jagex was idiotic to not remove credit info on f2p accounts this means that even if you quit months ago your credit card could still be used.

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

if jagex is taking this new line even one more step, I'm out. I have no wish of playing a game where extra real life cash can buy instant benefits like this..

I find it funny how they have told us this would never happen, and that they have been so hard on gambling in game, this is most definitely gambling, that 50gp is as good as nothing, using a loop hole.. low...

Jagex is so in for a lawsuit once dozen of members who quit and had their account hijacked get thousands of dollars worth of credit card bills.

Hold on a second, I just thought of something. I'm not so sure we can bring this up without incurring the wrath of other industries, notably TCG like Magic. I mean think about it, when you buy a pack of cards there's no guarantee that what you'll get will be of equal value to the money spent, they might all be worthless or you could have gotten something worth a lot of money. So in that way wouldn't we be considering something like the Pokemon Card game a form of gambling? Hell, that's more insidious since you can sell the cards for money back quickly and legally.

Yes, TCG's are definitely like gambling, especially with booster packs.

One thing that's interesting to note is even after you purchase your spins, Jamflex still owns the things that you've spun.

At the same time though courts have set the precedent that the players have significant emotional and economic investment in their accounts and have some claim to the items as discussed here. I'd honestly be ok with this if it was only for the silly cosmetic items, but since it not only gives high-level armor, regular exp, and a slim chance of lots of money I just honestly have to stand against them.

This is literally the end of runescape as we have always known it. The game, built on the basic egalitarian principle that you could do well in the game regardless of your irl financial status, has completely ended. I doubt Andrew Gower and other rs founders would have ever wanted to see this.
